OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

We survived years and years and years without this penalty and the game was just fine.

We also survived years and years where icing was just a stoppage and a faceoff in your defensive zone. That was a bad rule also.

The penalty is good, I will die on this hill. The puck belongs on the ice, airborne pucks lead to boring hockey. Want to elevate it, go ahead, but you're taking a risk. Nosek tried to make that play instead of making a pass and he walked out of the penalty box at the end of the game.

Would love to see the day we get rid of referees making calls on the ice and there's video AI referees making the calls down instantly who can determine the difference between intentional pucks out of play and unintentional pucks out of play I'll be fine with the rule. Then the on ice refs can just be dropping pucks and being security guards.

I know people like Gustav Forsling because he’s a great story, waiver guy who resurrected his career is an awesome thing, but he has given some absolutely ABYSMAL performances in high-leverage moments for Florida this year

Lol what type of hf boomer thinking is that.

It’s funny that’s a penalty but they let d zone teams willfully and blatantly ice the puck you know actually delay the game without one

It's the one thing that's gonna get this Panthers core, the amount of games played + physicality isn't sustainable for a long period of time. Players are going to start to feeling it with the game style they play and some of their guys already are with how Tkachuk has been injured the past few years, some guys having some horrendous postseasons like Forsling you mentioned.

It really is one of the more ridiculous rules. Were teams really flipping the puck out of play on purpose for whistles that much?

College hockey doesn't have an automatic delay of game penalty, it's the refs discretion if it was intentional or not. I'd rather see discretion be part of the rule again in the NHL but these bozos take so long to figure anything out that's probably another reason they changed in the first place to make it easier for them.

Hell look how long it took earlier in the game for all 4 of them to talk about a puck that clearly hit the netting and they had to talk about it even though it was super obvious.

The league needs to drop all the coaches challenge bullshit and add VAR like soccer where the video assistant referee calls down the correct calls to the on ice officials, especially in a situation like that where it's the puck clearly hitting the netting which we saw in the replay seconds after the whistle was blown.

There's a punishment with that type of play with not being able to change + faceoff comes back into your zone, my guy. Keep up.

I don't even like the delay of game penalty as is but Nosek had a Panther in front of him for the breakout and sent it 50 rows into the crowd. That's on him.

Maybe but this is year 3 straight years in the finals.

Penalty not punishment( know the difference bruh) blatantly and willingly delaying the game with icings should be a penalty not a punishment more so then a puck over the glass if your under pressure and trying to clear it

Serious?

Realistically that should also be the punishment for a puck into the stands, same principle

Except we're underrating that these guys would flip pucks into the crowd like nothing if there was no legit recourse besides a faceoff + same guys stay out there. Again, I don't even like the rule because I think it punishes guys for perfect in an imperfect sport with razor thin margins but players would 100% abuse it if there was nothing in the rulebook

Maybe but this is year 3 straight years in the finals.

The Islanders had a similar run with Trotz with a similar system and they got caved in eventually long term. This style of play isn't conducive to being good for a long term team.

The 2012-2015 Kings are probably a better example with a team that's won too, they fizzled out relatively quickly as well with the hard nosed style.

100%. There would be less bullshit waiting around and the correct calls would be called almost simultaneously. Can even play a whistle over the speakers to stop the game to make it faster than calling down to the refs through an ear piece. It's probably something we see in our lifetimes and the league would love it because they could save some money and take 1 ref off the ice since they won't be needed.

Players would abuse the rule to no end if that was implemented
I remember watching a lot of hockey but I don’t remember that happening that often. Make it like others said discretionary if a player isn’t under pressure and he tosses it out then sure give him a penalty. There’s other times teams should get called for delaying the game without a penalty. Deliberately going offsides goalies freezing the puck without moving it when they can.

I dunno though players totally abuse icings and sure they are punished but they still get a reset and a small rest it’s worth it to keep doing it not to mention time goes off the clock

I really don't give a shit who wins this series but I think it would be hilarious to see Edmonton go up 3-0 and then lose 4 straight and game 7 at home.

The last thing we need is more discretionary nonsense allowing the officials to even further influence the game based on their own personal biases. I don't love the rule but it definitely eliminates all bias.
