OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

That pull by DeBoer was awful, Otter lifetime stats in the West Final are abysmal but you still have to stick with him. Powerplay goal + breakaway?
That was certainly a choice.

I don’t know if he thought he had to pull him cause he allowed 2 goals on 2 shots and literally 0 saves, but it was definitely suspect.

I’ve seen DeBoer pull his goalie early in a 2-0 game when the goalie allowed two quick ones early, but not in a must win playoff game like this.

I didn’t think either goal was bad. Goal 1 is a crazy redirection and goal 2 he was deked on a breakaway with not much time to react.

I could see it at 3-0, but not 2-0 in this type of a game, meaning in a must win to stay alive conference finals game.

6 trips to the conference final or later in 18 seasons coaching (good lord that makes me feel old) and no Cup. That's rough. Although also a testament to him as a coach getting multiple teams that far.
I’m not completely sure that I’m correct with this stat, but I think I read at some point these playoffs that he has the most wins of any playoff head coach who never won the cup.

People do this every year to cope their teams losing, Tampa Bay got bitched at for the LTIR loophole when them and the Blues were the only teams to propose a rule back in 2015 to get rid of. No one complained about Florida teams were they were in the shitter. You still have to want guys to come to Florida at a slight discount for any of it to work and it only happened after Tkachuk and the 2023 run

Didn't he pull Marty the game where we were up 3-0 on FLA and choked that lead in 2012? Game 3 I think it was, he has prior precedent of doing it in the playoffs tbh

That state tax stuff is so overblown. Do people not realize that athletes in no income tax states still pay “jock tax” for the 30+ games they play in other states that do have income tax?

I am skeptical these guys can even estimate the advantage accurately enough for it to factor into their decision that directly.

Let's face it Oettinger wasn't stopping anything in this game not that DeSmith was any better but you could tell his reactions were slow. Maybe he was hoping DeSmith would put on a shutout performance who knows🤷‍♂️

The Wii sports VR stuff needs to leave and never come back. My god that was irritatingly BAD. That's NHL09 graphics and the jitter... bleh.
We played VR with friends. Nine people. It was VR without cable, we could running in the big room. That was a shooter game. It was very fun, immersive, and it was the best cardio training in the last 15 years. Because I had a lot of adrenaline.

There are powerful interests on either side of the border who feed this line of bullshit into hockey media's mouths so that they can manufacture enough consent among idiots to make it a reality in more states and provinces. It's so goddamn obvious.

And yes, there is well more that factors into the final take-home pay than "doyyyyyy no state income tax = more $$$$." But there's no money in outlining the nuance.

I was rooting for Dallas, but wow PBD just ran over his goalie. I think one of them is gone by next season.

Bringing up last season vs EDM is total clownshow shit. Loser coaching pumpkin mind.

Has nothing to do with the series this season.

How about his team couldn't muster more than 2 shots for like half a 3rd period? Playing a rookie instead of dadonov or whomever. The team in front of goalie just disappeared for stretches

So many reasons and blaming it on the goalie because of reasons and because of last season, now GTFO with that...

No wonder PDB never won anything.

If they were smart Pete will be given a pink slip today or very soon. Six Conference Finals or Cup Final appearances with not a single Cup to show for it.

Classic Pete. The bump he gives teams upon his hire has always been impressive. Even his first job in Florida he just barely missed getting those scrubs to the playoffs. But as with most coaches, things wear thin around that 3-4 year mark.

I wouldn't have blamed him for the pull necessarily given the team was flat and he maybe was trying to find a spark for them (and it almost having worked somewhat, they cut the 3-0 deficit to one goal twice), but to throw your goalie under the bus afterwards and bring up his track record is pretty tough stuff. Especially when you yourself as a coach have a track record of falling short over and over again. I wish a media member had brought that up to him.

I didn’t think the move to pull Oettinger there and losing this series was going to get him fired.

But after those comments I think it’s certainly possible he gets fired if Oettinger doesn’t like him, and if that pissed other guys on the team off.

I think they’re more worried about taking the side of the guy signed for 8 more years than a head coach that almost assuredly won’t be there for more than a few more years, barring a cup win that buys him more time.

He’s been known to get nasty with the media and telling them things like “maybe you should apply for a coaching job”.

He did that once here, and I know he did it once in Dallas.

And then there was another time he cursed at somebody who he thought was implying the team wasn’t working hard. I think he snapped and said something like “is that how the game looked to you tonight?”. I think that was in Dallas, but it could have been Vegas. I think it was Dallas and some of his blow ups have come in playoff post game pressers.

He also had the falling out with Lehner and made similar comments about him at the end with Vegas, but that came in their one non-playoff year. And Lehner never played another season after that.

I think he pulled Marty early in the 2nd period after the Panthers tied it at 3-3. Marty didn’t get tagged with the loss because Hedberg allowed the game winner.

With how Connor Hellebuyck and Jake Oettinger played these playoffs I want Jeremy Swayman as the 3rd goalie for the Olympics in case these guys shit the bed.

I think it just proves more than ever, especially in a series or tournament format, goaltending is as volatile as its ever been.

Stuart Skinner is the greatest enigma in my lifetime.
