OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

I thought it might be just non-NFL ratings are down for all but it sounds like NBA ratings are up, in particular cause the Knicks are good.

The big teams (especially the blackhawks it sounds like) being bad this year certainly a major factor. I've been predicting the NHL"s peaked for a while now, and maybe culturally it has but the revenue stream from the cult fans should last a long time, generations even, and expansion will bring in more revenue. I sort of see it as boxing today, healthy but culturally irrelevant outside its relatively smaller fanbase.

The league is fine and it’s certainly hasn’t peaked. You don’t get to charge a billion dollar expansion fee and someone buy it if it’s peaked

I just can’t see a team like the Devils compete against the Panthers remotely. They just attack and punish you every single time you have the puck in every zone, all the time. Good luck on 50/50 pucks lol. They don’t take a shift off, if you’re lazy, hesitate or don’t have the will you’re toast.

It'll always be dependent on the superstars and big paid guys to push this Devils team over the hump but if they can get back to their 22-23 way they can beat a team like Florida. A lot of that team's undoing was shit goaltending in the postseason

Agree, but I do think the defensive lessons learned this year were necessary. You combine this team and that team and you have a winner.

The Canes remind me of the 90s Orioles. Do a lot of things right but never have the juice.

The Canes are the Devils from the 90's and 2000's stuck in the wrong era. They're probably a dynasty in that era, you can't just win in the playoffs with this dogshit Rod shot generation system he runs from everywhere. Good goalies later in the playoffs will stone wall you then it puts more pressure on your goalie to be good which we've seen Freddy can't do the past few years.

@ the Devils point, I think the Devils could've done that as well but they jumped the shark a bit trying to become a playoff ready team before realizing this team was fragile in terms of team building. They should've let the Devils players have a few seasons of consistently making it before rocking the boat as hard as they did.

The Panthers cheap shotted their way through the Leafs and are punishing the Canes as we speak. Our guys would be bugs on a windshield at this point.

Don’t get me wrong I hate that shit but it’s very effective plus their depth is stepping up. If you can punish our top guys and neutralize them it’s over.

Carolina would not be a dynasty back in the days when you needed a HOF goalie and multiple Norris caliber defensemen to win a Cup.

Their shot generation system would've killed in an era where goalies were worse. Also Carolina's defense? That's their best part of their current roster. Their defensive core would arguably be better back in that era.
