I'd easily root for Toronto in a series v the Canes. They get to a cup or win it and they're ending their window with a Marner extension + JT coming back. They'll hand out dogshit deals instead of legit improving a la NYR 94.

Why does this keep coming up whenever the Leafs have success this postseason? It reeks of loser mentality, coaches in the NHL move around for better or worse. Keefe did better than a Jack Adams finalist coach v Carolina. Not sure how you watch Toronto v Florida and think Berube is the reason why they might possibly win. They're in the same situation they were under Keefe MULTIPLE times. If they break through, it's their players finally scoring not because Berube was some magic

Whoever is in charge of the individual goal highlights on the nhl app is doing a horrible job. Feels like half the time the highlight starts and the goal is scored within seconds. No setup, no replay, no alternate angle… just very lazily done. Seems like they don’t want to waste file space or something.
There was a post on another thread, I forget exactly where, but the gist of it was this if Toronto somehow gets to the Cup final (I prefer the latter).
The Toronto media will blow up if the Leafs win the Cup.

It dovetails with the notion that was spread around here that both DeBoer and Hynes would struggle to be head coaches after their gigs here, meanwhile both guys have basically never stopped working since then.
And yeah, Toronto has not looked good in this series. I think they'd be in trouble against Carolina.

Yeah that’s the only thing I’d probably switch on the list…they’re 2 and Canada being closer to 3 or 4. I wouldnt even put the non Toronto and Montreal teams in the same boat tbh

I’m not saying I agree with it lol (hence the bruh sarcasm) but you can’t deny that mindset is out there with their fans, the Canadian media and even a few of our fans, especially with how Berube was hyped up as a savior in Toronto this offseason. Proven Cup winning coach! Sure but also great timing the year they got their patsy in the first round and a Panthers team drained after multiple deep playoff runs with Thachuk being held together with tape and bailing wire.

I’m fine with Dallas or Winnipeg winning it all. Both of these organizations are elite at drafting (wouldn’t it be nice if we were?) and built the right way. I have nothing against either franchise whatsoever. I’d be happy for DeBoer, too. I really hope Carolina gets bounced in the ECF but wouldn’t it be an awesome full circle moment if Rantanen does both of his former teams in?

Switching topics, I thought Florida played very well last night except for their power play. Their second period especially was dominant, they had Toronto on the ropes but the Leafs shot blocking and goalie play let them hang on. I don’t see why people are blaming Florida.
Neither team is embarrassing itself in this series. We should only be that “disappointing.”

For me I'd put Philly behind the Rags and Carolina below the Isles. Pitt is toast for a while and I don't really care about the Florida teams one way or the other. Vegas needs to be on there.
This time of year I'm usually rooting for who I hate the least against the above list but I'm all in on Dallas. I really want Pete to get a cup and burn the Avs with the Rantanen stuff all while taking out the Canadian teams. There's a bunch of teams with hateable assholes but they don't seem to have any for the most part. If they do don't spoil it for me lol.
