OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

Gotta hope Florida takes care of business tomorrow night. Don’t need the Canes to get a lot more rest

The CF are not starting til 5/20/5/21 according to Pierre Lebrun. the SCF is set for 6/7-6/23 I think so league does not want anyone in event of a sweep being off for like 13 days.

Nice story and all, but I think most would agree they overachieved significantly.

Though they will have a ton of cap space and can actually improve, but I don’t think they’re doing what they did this year with largely the same squad next year.

Their group is younger/better than NYR, they're gonna be angry they barely missed by a point or whatever it was. The management is gonna legit spend for that fanbase and team, not to mention Waddell made up most of the current Canes roster so they also have a good GM in charge as opposed to joker Jarmo.

These teams are nothing special. A healthy NJ team beats either one. I don’t care how bad they were after Christmas.
We played Carolina tougher and more even than Washington did. The Caps, it turns out, are who we thought they were last September. You saw it in how they struggled against the Habs in round one.

You won’t win games scoring one goal or getting shut out. They scored 7 goals all series. They looked their age. Ovi, Carlson, even Wilson looked more and more out of gas the deeper the series went - and it only went 5 games.

How good the Canes are we will get to see against Florida sometime next week.

Caps get a spot on the wall of Gaylord for winning a playoff series for the first time since the 2018 cup finals.

Chumps

I mean, I get shitting on the Capitals but this season still was amazing for them. They had nothing to look forward to besides the Ovechkin goal race and they had a memorable year. Everyone knew they were probably a step behind a true contender.

The Habs could make it again next year tbh, NYR has a lot to do to even get back into the playoffs imo. They're getting older, the defense is trash, Shesterkin's extension kicks in.

Montreal is as big a fraud as the Caps, I think they are way less than even money to get back to the playoffs. NYR does not have to do much, Shesterkin just has to be Shesterkin.

What was weird was how high their scoring was early on. It was like 4, 5 or 6 goals time and again. And Thompson was strong in their net. They were scoring off of the rush and counterattacks even more than the cycle and their power play was to be feared too. Shit that certainly disappeared. It wasn’t just not finishing in this series. It was not generating sustained pressure or good chances.

That defense is on par with 2010 Lou rosters outside of Fox, you're underrating how bad the defensive core is while they're all locked in for next year at this point and K'Andre Miller is RFA.

And there's no reason the Habs can't do what the Capitals did this year and have their youth taste playoffs and then improve on it. They're also getting a full year of Demidov, might be active in getting players now since they're turning the mend on their rebuild.

I don't get why this board treats the Rags as a boogeyman, there's better teams in the East with younger players/cores. A superstar goalie does not move me especially at his salary.

I mean a lot of had to do with their revamped backend, that should stay the same. The issue is how you replenish the star power of an Ovechkin/Wilson as they're getting older but still productive regular season wise. Maybe this year helps them attract guys to Washington, who knows
