OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

The Jets generated 1.5 xGF 5v5 through the first three periods in a game they trailed in the entire time. Depth, bro, you just don't get it.
The Jets didn’t looked spectacular in a lot of games in this series - including when they were fully healthy. Point is they didn’t completely crater, which allowed them to win the game. Yes I’m aware the role that good fortune played into this.

I don’t know what to expect from the Canes-Caps series. The Canes don’t seem all that great, but I’m not sure if the Caps are either.

All I know is that I have a hard time envisioning either of them or Toronto beating Florida.

I've stopped calling the Caps fake since about January now. Even if they're not as good as their record indicated for the year, the East is right there for the taking. I'm impressed with the job Carbery has done there.

I also think the Leafs-Panthers series is going to be brutal. They're going to kick the crap out of each other.

Berube is the perfect coach to combat FLAs filth.

My only slight concern in the Caps' series is their history of playoff choke jobs/no shows. Otherwise, they are a much better team than what the majority of the hockey community is giving them credit for. Very well built and a testament to what great GM'ing actually looks like.

We literally have posters here who say, “Take away any team’s 1C and 1D and they will look like shit”. But heaven forbid someone point out any examples of that not being true. :eyeroll:
In fact they did look like absolute shit for most of the game. 90% of regulation time they couldn’t get puck possession for shit 5 on 5; they’d try to dump it in and then lose possession and meanwhile were subject to endless counter attacks that saw St, Louis coming through center ice consistently with speed.

They lost the one on one battles and were getting beat up too. Morrisey tries a 1st period hit. Woof. Five minutes later gets caught against the boards and his shoulder looks half broken.

No way Winnipeg should have won that game. But they gutted it out with the power play and then the historic 6 on 5 sequence at the end.

Only in overtime did they take over with their legs

The Jets were without both Morrisey and Scheifele for less than a game. Without Scheifele for 2 games and a fraction. What the effect on them would have been of being without them both for 25 to 30 games, like us, who knows.

You're getting into Jim territory man with the trolling, they were down 3-1 on home ice and needed one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history to win this series. Coming here and bitching after the last 2 nights when 2 teams made arguably some of the sickest comebacks in league history to shit on the Devils who played fine against Carolina considering the circumstances is just pure "woe is me" attitude that frankly none of us care about. Find a new hobby if it bothers you this much.

While I don't disagree at times that people make too many excuses for the Devils (though that really wasn't the case in the playoffs, the excuses were actually legit this time lol), this ain't the thread to be beating that dead horse, it gets into trolling territory when that stuff gets brought into the OOT/Around the League threads tbh

Jets made me go through 3 bottles of wine with double overtime.

It started out innocent enough. Stuffed peppers and a bottle of wine... Then why not a second one....then overtime why not a 3rd one....my poor stomach is an acidic mess this morning.

Nonetheless there is something fun about decorking a bottle of wine.

I wasn’t trolling. I agree that the “injury excuse” became valid for the devils in the playoffs considering the entire d-core was in the infirmary. I have a well known stance on the topic but that doesn’t mean it applies no matter what the degree; people are just assuming I’m making veiled commentary about the devils playoff performance specifically when I’m really just speaking broadly about a back-and-forth that goes back years. People could easily offer their rebuttals explaining how/why teams are overcoming their injury issues without making these assumptions or being so sensitive about the debate. It seems a little heavy handed that I have to tread so lightly about mentioning injuries even when talking about other teams/OoT scoreboard in the appropriate thread.

Just me perspective. :dunno:

Panthers in 6 I guess?

Or is this the year the Leafs finally make it to the conference finals like when the Capitals FINALLY DID and then won the cup that year?

Bob stinks tonight. Two bad ones.

If Florida are taken out by Toronto relatively quickly that doesn't reflect well on Tampa at all.

They've looked very pedestrian for well over a month now outside of that Tampa series.

I'm quickly having remorse over that Panthers prediction. Just like I did in 2022 when Tampa swept them.
