Also I am happy that the St. Louis move of targeting Scheifele with cheap shots and knocking him out of the series didn’t get rewarded. It very nearly did. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such blatant head hunting against another teams star player as that involved in the way they went after Scheifele. (Am sure I misspelled this). It came within 2 seconds of working.

This is glutton of punishment type stuff. Instead of enjoying a great playoff game, its piling it on the already dead horse that is the NJ Devils. We know what the issues were with NJ all season pre injury woes.
Which made their injury woes even more cataclysmic.

Bringing it up here, again, is just much.

That was an awesome game. I'm happy for Winnipeg. If any Canadian team were to win the cup, I'd want it to be them.

It's also dumb when you consider their two key injuries (Scheifele and Morrissey) had been healthy all season until these last few games. So yes, a team with key injuries sucked it up and won a playoff game. Something which, if I remember correctly, our own injury riddled and depth starved team also did at one point, before succumbing to their inevitable fate.

We literally have posters here who say, “Take away any team’s 1C and 1D and they will look like shit”. But heaven forbid someone point out any examples of that not being true.

For you to say that is pure comedy. Just like, absolutely no self-awareness - you watch one of the great playoff games of the decade and you come in here to talk about the 2024-25 New Jersey Devils by crowing about injuries. Which person is obsessed with being right?

The Devils played solid hockey in the playoffs. That's the incredible thing about what happened - the Devils had 4 healthy D, Dumoulin, Nemec, Casey, Cholowski. Everyone else was either playing injured, returned from injury, or was injured and left the series. The Devils won the xG battle 5v5, something that Sheldon Keefe himself probably would've said was impossible. They had all sorts of obvious depth problems and they still managed to persevere 5v5. But no, YOU have to be right.

The Jets were 2 seconds away from losing. They lost the 5v5 goal battle 3-1. They didn't play well until overtime where they were clearly the better team. Instead of recognizing what a gigantic role that luck plays in all of this - Hellebuyck imploding again, the crazy bounces on Goal #1, the bounces on the Jets goals - you're here to talk about the 2024-25 New Jersey Devils.

I’m not bringing the 2024-25 Devils playoff circumstances into this. You guys are. I’m making a counterpoint to the general refrain we’ve heard across multiple seasons, that any team that loses two of their best players is gonna look like crap. This is a message board where we debate these things. If you guys can’t handle counterpoints to your claims without going off into tangents about whatever grievances you have with me, then don’t make the claims in the first place.

I posted it here because it’s an observation about an OoT game.

I don't think the Caps cruise over the Canes, I still think the Caps are kinda fake, but the Canes aren't all that good either. Obviously a lot depends on the goaltending.

The Jets generated 1.5 xGF 5v5 through the first three periods in a game they trailed in the entire time. Depth, bro, you just don't get it.

I don't think the Caps cruise over the Canes, I still think the Caps are kinda fake, but the Canes aren't all that good either. Obviously a lot depends on the goaltending.

Either team gets manhandled by whoever comes out of the other quadrant.

Anyway, really expect Panthers vs Caps ECF. Will be shocked if Canes beat Caps. Both series in the West are a clash of styles imo....gonna be interesting.
