OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

The turning point in that series was LA’s coach making and losing the dumbest challenge decision in NHL history. Acted like an absolute moron and sabotaged his own team.
I think he’s probably out after that.

But mostly because I think there will be a GM change there.

Friedman said over a year ago that Rob Blake was under contract until 2025 and that he doesn’t believe he wants this job forever. And that he may want to walk away and retire and surf all day.

I’ve not heard anything about him being re-upped recently.

Rob Blake has gotta be the most unpopular GM with the fanbase of almost any team that’s regularly in the playoffs.

4 straight 1st round losses to the Oilers but this one after starting out with a 2-0 lead. Gave up 6 goals while McDavid/Draisaitl/Bouchard had 1 combined point. Edmonton had the worst producing depth of all playoff teams aside from us. At this point LA could win the President's Trophy next year and I wouldn't pick them to beat an 8 seed Edmonton in the 1st round.

I would like to say either one would get smoked by Vegas this year anyways but Hill is rocking a .880 SV% with 1 good game out of 6. Round 2 is looking like it's going to be a shootout

The Byfield missed clear in Game 4 was worse than the goalie challenge
Yeah but the challenge happened first and set the tone for the choke. It’s one thing for a player to make an epic mistake, it’s a whole different thing for someone who’s not even on the ice to willingly make a wildly stupid decision that loses you a game.

There’s also the fact that his coaching sucked in other areas throughout the series too. One of the worst displays of coaching I’ve ever seen in the playoffs, worse than the pathetic performance of Brent Sutter in 09.

I think it really is time for the nhl to go back to the old format

Oilers and Kings have played 4 years in a row and most 2/3 seed matchups are settled by January.

NHL says it’s to promote rivalry but at the end of the day I don’t think Kings/Oilers rivalry has taken a jump

You aren't wrong with saying Hiller gave them life in Game 3 with his stupidity in coaching, they still had a chance to go up 3-1 if Byfield doesn't make the play.

They arguably got lucky in Game 1 as well, Oilers were legit trying to give this series away and the Kings said "here you can have it" lol

They aren’t going back because it makes scheduling for the media rights holders 1000x easier.

Well there is no rivalry when one team constantly trolls the other a la the Canes with us. The only reason that one is currently worse is cause both teams have made the playoffs every year.

I guess but the canes have been putting belt to ass all the way back to the brodeur days

Which is different

I would say Montreal was the worst team in the postseason. I think even this depleted NJ squad would have taken care of them.

But yeah, that's about it. If they were healthy then probably better than Blues, Wild and even with a few others.

But thats not saying much. Need some better depth forwards to round out the roster.

Vegas and Edmonton going to be an interesting series. I would pick Vegas for their defense/goaltending advantage. But I thought the same for the Kings and it didn't work out that way. And Hill has been shit.

while they're at it, bring back the home whites. and the glowing puck, AND the wendy's salad bar

"Kings lapped the Devils"

Wonder where those geniuses are now
Not enough humility for some folks. I for one talked up the Kings a lot. I was completely wrong. Just incredible how mentally soft they were in this series. The best defensive team in the league completely forgot how to play the basics when defending. Last night was a good example. One of the goals had like all five kings skaters in one spot. Just crazy stuff.
