I wouldn't say that at all. LA won the cup in 2014, a year before the rebuild officially started for us. They missed the playoffs in 2015 (one of the few cup winners to miss the next season), went out to the Sharks in round one in 2016 in 6 games, then missed the playoffs in 2017 and fired coach and GM. They made the playoffs in 2018 to go out in the first round to Vegas. Were they swept by Vegas that year? I can't remember.

I wouldn't say their rebuild really started until 2018 or 2019. And they also didn't tear it down the way we did. They still have Doughty and Kopitar from those two cups. They even still had Quick two years ago.

Devils didn't truly start their rebuild until they got Nico, McLeod and Zacha were not franchise pieces and the Devils were going to be bad with those picks because they were not day 1 guys in the league. As soon as they drafted Nico, their rebuild started imo. Yes, LAK got swept by Vegas.

The Devils started their rebuild around the same time as LAK did and they have no playoff round wins. If you want to bitch about everything, at least be right about it.

Not to mention LA had Kopitar and Doughty still. We had Zajac and Andy Greene, totally the same thing.

Ullmark never saw that shot, had no idea it was even past him before it filled the net. Total screen and I think a set play by Toronto to create it. Center draws clean and both he and the right wing interfere with the defense trying to fight to the point, and that pile up is screen #1. Left wing meanwhile drives down on the net and rides the defense right across in front of the goalie as the shot arrives. Perfectly executed. Game over on a set piece.

I don’t think Ottawa sucks. On the contrary they are talented and playing well. Hard to win a series when you’ve gone down zip to two in overtime games.

Good for the Wild. Feels great to not hate on them since Parise and Suter (I have no ill will towards Hynes).

Wild is a good example of the fine line it is for NHL teams dealing with injuries. They had 2-3 key injuries and were in even worse shape than NJD. Hell, even the current bad version of the Devils outplayed them twice. But they got their boys back and are now competitive.

Having a healthy Jack and Siegs would have done wonders for us (also a healthy Dougie). Still would be a flawed team but they would be in a better spot. Need our guys healthy next season and need Fitz to supplement them with some better complimentary players.

They were an elite team with Kaprizov, this isn't shocking, also Boldy is destroying Vegas too. Minnesota v LAK would be a very fun series
