OOT scoreboard 2025 playoff edition

I know this is definitely a disappointment for the Avs but man they actually had a pretty solid team aside from goaltending. They had 4 solid forward lines and a good top 4. The Blackwood contract already looks bad but they're definitely not the only team that has suffered with finding goaltending. Edmonton, LA, Toronto, Ottawa, Carolina, and us, hell maybe even Vegas, haven't been able to get consistent goaltending year to year.

Also kind of lame that 2 of the top 3 teams in the West had to face off in round 1. (At least by how most fans perceived it, I think most thought of Winnipeg and LA as frauds and/or not true contenders).

Wouldn't mind seeing Dallas win it all. They are a very likeable team loaded with talent at every position. They are gonna be even better next round with Heiskanen and Robertson returning. The Golden Knights are the only team I can see possibly beating them in the West.

Absolutely moronic for them to have traded Rant. Guy is a top 10 forward in the league. Did they buy into this idiotic idea that MacKinnon was making him look better than he is? Or did they just want to pinch pennies?

Trade winds up being a double whammy of shit because he winds up in your division playing for your closest competitor.

Necas is an “ok” replacement but if they don’t win another cup they are gonna look back on this as the worst decision the franchise ever made. Doubly so if Rant gets a cup with Dallas.

Blackwood is playing terrific. Outside of Hall, there are no other former Devils in the playoffs, which should tell you the utter level of suckage we've endured. I can get on board the MB39 hype train. (but then again, I am a goalie lover)
Some people have pointed couple players, but nobody remembered these gems still playing in the playoffs:

Kulikov FLA
AJ Greer FLA
Boqvist FLA
Comrie WPG
Colin Miller WPG

but this one you all old folks shouldve remembered :sarcasm: he does go bit under the radar thesedays I must admit but I still cheer for the guy a lot
Adam Henrique EDM

Bunch of whiners. Canadian fans would KILL for that from their own teams. Hell, must fans in the league would.
They really thought they were going to absolutely destroy the league after Makar emerged like 5 years ago with a multiple cup dynasty. To be fair I kind of thought so too. But some bad luck (Landeskog and Nichushkin missing multiple seasons worth of games) and bad goaltending and they are gonna probably look back with disappointment given where they thought they would be by now.

Spoiled and entitled but I kind of get it.

I'm sure the Avs bench had some talking about challenge that goal, they probably couldn't take the risk in 2-2 Game 7 but still

I wasn't watching live so I don't know if they gave the coach the Time-Wasting Pause but can't imagine they call that back because Rantanen had control of the puck and never came inside the crease and it's not clear Blackwood's ability to stop the puck was impeded regardless. Even though the contact happened while Blackwood was partly in the crease, it's incidental.

People talking about that wrap around goal? Blackwood's defenseman put it in off his skate. Rantanen was in no position to get the puck on an angle that came near scoring. He threw it in front. It didn't go in off of Blackwood. Just a bounce off of the D. I can't believe people ragging on Blackwood about it.

If I want to ding Blackwood I'm probably looking more at the first goal, where everyone loses their gap on Rantanen and he gets to circle back into the middle and walk down the slot. Or the power play winner, where the D lets the puck right across the seam but Blackie might arguably have reacted quicker.

Really strange series of events late in the 3d. Makar breaking his stick when Tee'ing up a one timer on their power play with about 7 minutes left was a major turning point that led to that game tying goal.

Bill Buckner has the ground ball go under his glove stuff . . .

Blackwood was so far to the other side of the net the puck going off the skate had nothing to do with that goal being scored. Rantanen could have missed the net and it not go in.

With some bad luck the puck could have went off the skate and went wide.

I guess you can argue Rantanen’s contact with him prevented him from getting across (it shouldn’t have been called back for goalie interference though) but that puck off the skate had little to do with that.

I nailed him on the first goal too, but it was a pretty good shot and not a terrible goal.

I just read like the last 20 pages of the AVS GDT.

Holy shit, that place went full code red.... I have to say I LOLed.

Devils gutting it out with a medivac D squad doesn't seem so bad.

Couldn't have scripted a worse way to lose for the AVS. Like total embarrassment and pie in the face stuff for their management. Not sure I blame blackwood on the wraparound, but maybe on the GWG he could have moved more fully over .

Let's go Deboer?

Approximate current Cup odds are badly mispriced imo.

Dallas is +550 and roughly even with Edmonton. Dallas should be the obvious favorite out of the West. Doesn't mean they get there, but they should have best odds. Pickard looks like a spaz in net, the wheels will fall off eventually (+ no Ekholm).

Canes at +450 is lighting money on fire. No clue how Caps are a distant +1000. Books (and much of HF) greatly overvaluing this Canes team imo, but we'll see. Canes were effectively sellers this year. Their biggest move(s) involved getting future assets > value of what they received this year. Whatever goaltending or downright bad if Andersen misses time. Whatever roster in comparison to real contenders: FLA (duh), TOR (but FLA is trouble), WSH (assuming Protas isn't a shell of himself).
