LOVE Timo Meier and do not regret that trade one bit but MAN I would love to have Zetterlund instead of Bastian haha

He forced a turnover on the Smith goal as well. He’s a guy I’m just never going to get over and never thought we should’ve moved. I loved him so much and he’s exactly what we need right now. He’s like the missing piece to what would put this team over the top as the clear cut best in the league

Gotta hand it to Mike Grier for scouting that one. For them, at a glance, it didn't seem the right move (zetts vs. holtz). We knew zetts was decent but the potential of holtz was still on everyone's mind as a high chance he would break out.

It was definitely a win for both teams.

Honestly Zetts is probably the only player the Devils have traded (or lost via FA) that I miss currently. But then you see Timo and I'm happy lol

I don’t think the move was ever Zetterlund or Holtz (I also definitely would’ve taken Zetterlund over Holtz). It was Zetterlund or Yegor and Holtz or Muk

Yeah he is a guy worth keeping. Maybe like a parise-lite with a decent shot? That motor/tenacity.

I guess Yegor could have been in the picture. At the time I don't remember his name being referenced as trade bait though

Wasn't it Mercer everyone wanted for Meier? (Mainboard?). Maybe I am crossing it.

Remember the majority thought was we gave up nothing for Timo? Sharks probably got 3 good NHL regulars in that trade in Shak, Zetterlund and Musty (the first rounder they took that year)
One of those deals where it seemingly works out for everyone involved: Timo's in his prime and playing for a contender, the Devils get a powerful top-line winger who could be a difference maker come playoff time, Sharks get multiple young pieces to build toward an increasingly bright future, Zetts gets consistent playing time with higher line teammates, etc.

Just one of those trades where I was pumped as hell to get Meier, but did at least have to wince a little bit at the cost, but that's just the price of doing business. Not every deal can be a fleecing.

Ya, Big Z would slot in really nicely on our third line, pushing guys like Cotter down.

We’d still want another center for the bottom 6, but Zetterlund would add a lot of physicality and secondary scoring from a spot in the forward lineup where we sorely need it.

Ah well, can’t have it all.

We just need Cotter or Haula to find their game again, for the 2nd half.

If cotter doesn't return to form, we will know he hit a massive hot streak to start and we are getting the version we always thought we were getting at first trade. If so, he is just another Lazar esque player with a bit more skill of the hands.

Still hoping there's another gear we can get from cotter and he just hit a massive snakebitten wall, his play isn't bad, just not on the points.

I don't expect much from Haula and Cotter. Maybe a little bit more than this but really, this is who they are. If either of them go off in the playoffs, that will be amazing but very Bryce Salvador of them.

We should absolutely be looking for someone to keep Cotter on the 4th line.

Too bad they took the Swedish guy, just not the Swedish Space Junk.
