My big metric right now is if Washington can fall under .700 on the points percentage, and if the Devils can stay close to it. Loss last night puts the Caps at something like .706, Devils are right around 2/3rds.

Yes them just missing the playoffs and picking 12 to 16 every year is ideal. However that takes a special kind of mediocrity, something equivalent to purgatory.

I'm not. Their underlying numbers last year were bottom of the barrel. They rode some saves, some shooting, and a hot PP right up to the bubble last year and then barely changed the roster at all. Now they're back where they belong.
