Man all this shitting on the rangers…watch them beat us next week.
Anyone can beat anyone right now unless you are Buffalo it seems...I would love to see the Devils beat the Rangers that game as an early Xmas gift for our fans.

I think the Rangers will figure things out. They are a good team regardless of what the hockey world wants to say. They started the season very hot , even with this slump they are still in wild card spot. I can see them beating a higher seeded team in the first round. Crazy they were two games away from the Cup Finals , I know Shesterkin played a huge part in that but you don't get that far by some fluke reason.

I know anyone can beat anyone which is why I brought up the possibility of losing to them while we talk shit.

I don’t think the rangers turn it around unless Drury is canned and they make some smart moves with the roster. That locker room is rotten now, you can’t just expect them to magically flip a switch back into positive vibes, they would need some kind of significant spark.

Are the other guys besides Power generally paired with Henri Jokiharju (probably the single worst most negative value defenseman in the entire league)? He is clearly a victim of playing for the most incompetent organization in all of pro sports, a sane organization finds a steady vet to pair with him so he learns and develops properly. Kevyn should go back to running the rec rink.

I was on the “they’ll figure it out” boat for a while because the WC race was horrendous. They still might figure out their own shit but they’re digging themselves a whole and still could easily miss after righting the ship as some bubble teams have emerged as competent. The Rangers started out the year hot because they had a soft schedule. They’ve sucked against good competition all year. They have a tough schedule the rest of the way.

Ottawa’s played good hockey. Now they’re getting the goaltending on top of that. They should be good the rest of the way. Boston’s been a lot better recently. They’re playing good hockey now. Both of those teams coming on strong makes things harder. If they were both still middling it’d be a lot easier for the Rangers to get in. The Rangers need to make drastic changes quick to turn things around. They’re going to keep spiraling without overhauling things.

Really wouldn't care, they're not making the playoffs anyway

No they're not, lol. Their backend is absolutely abysmal and their forwards have checked out. The only way they'll win games is if Igor/Quick steal games

They sure can since its hockey, and also Igor can steal one. Its not that big of a deal if it does happen. Devils just need to continue getting 65% of the points on the table

Thank you, not sure why losing to them would bother anyone besides they're just a bad team on the schedule lol

Jokiharju sucks and that pair sucks but it's not like he's great away from Jokiharju. Like last year Luke was saddled with Smith a lot. They were god awful together but Luke was a star without him. Power's still not good away from Jokiharju. Yes Power is partially a victim of circumstance but I also just don't think he's great and have never thought he's great. I'm not surprised by his play. He is who I thought he was. I always thought Luke and Clarke were substantially better. I liked Edvinsson but had some concerns. He's wiped all those concerns away.

Rangers D is atrociously bad. Trouba had an awful contract and isn’t anything special but he did eat up a ton of minutes. He’s gone now. Miller is now hurt, although he isn’t great, he was someone who also takes on big minutes. Rags have no one to take on these big minutes that were already being played by mediocre players.

Not to mention their entire offense is stagnant from being too much of a perimeter team, soft and another year older.

Add that to the team being checked out due to the GM and their brutal schedule coming up and Woof, it’s not going to get any better anytime soon.

Why i don't see how a forward trade changes anything. That blue line sucks.

I think they could retool in the offense and be a playoff team again but they need so much work currently I don’t think it’s possible to make the changes they need in season

You are discounting the fact that as organizations the Devils are quite competent while the Sabres are the most toxic and dysfunctional organization in the history of the sports. Read the takes on both Jack and Sam when they were in Buffalo where they were dubbed overrated and how several guys picked after them were better (as you can guess they did not age well). Heck, we still get the same takes on Dahlin despite the current historic implosion that began when he got hurt at the start of the 3rd vs the Avs up 4-2.

The guy who currently despises the team and the other guy who stopped trying after signing a big extension were “untouchable”
That was the “asking” price, but deep down there was no chance in hell the Pegulas and the Sabres were going to send Eichel to the Rangers. Them and Boston were the over the organizations dead body destinations. Eichel was always going West.

There is just a falsehood by Rags fans to cope the fact they didn't get him, the package that Drury gave was ass cheeks. He did the same thing last trade deadline with his Guentzel offer where he didn't even offer Kakko after 4-5 years. The Sabres had 0 reason not to trade with NYR if the package was good

Let's all be nice to the Rangers fans in our lives today, folks, they're really going through it after losing to the dynamo that is <checks notes> ...the 2024 Nashville Predators.

...huh.

A lot of the problems with the Rangers are mental, but you also can't ignore the fact that they have only two wins against teams currently in a playoff position and had a pillow-soft schedule to start. They're going into the teeth of their schedule and they're down bad. Somehow, it might get worse.

For their sake, they'd better hope Panarin isn't out for much longer. The other vets are underachieving and the youth aren't getting a fair shake. And if you can't get a single goal against the worst team in the NHL playing without their best defenseman by a large margin, then there's something deeply wrong with your strategy.
