I’ll believe it when I see it with the Rangers. Won’t count them out just yet but they clearly have issues right now
Shisterkan will drag them to Metro 3 or WC 1. I still see the Daps falling off a bit (but comfortably a playoff team). I think it’s between us or Carolina for the division.

I still think they're a playoff team, but it'll mostly be off the power of Igor. For the last few years now they've been infuriating to watch because they seem to get caved in so routinely by good teams only to have Sheshterkin bail them out, then have the power play swoop in to save the day, but if one of those ingredients isn't at the absolute tip-top of its game then they're a very, very mortal team, and frankly have been for a few seasons now. Been saying for awhile they remind me of the mid 2000 Yankees: teams with star power and high end talent that can feast on crappy opponents, but who get revealed when they play the legit contenders and don't have a horseshoe up their ass.
Caps are definitely concerning, but curious how their offense holds up without Ovi for awhile; they played well tonight against Florida, but the cats are in a slump right now so it's hard to make a definitive statement. Still, barring some kind of collapse in the next little while, they look like a real playoff team, not the phony version they were last year.
What were they tired from? They haven't played a game in over a week.

Nah, they're completely off this year. Even when they're winning, it's not in a sustainable way. Canes or Devils will cream them in the playoffs
I can’t count them out. All it takes to steal a series is Shesterkin getting hot at the right time.

It was posted in the other thread but the Rags top 6 had been absolutely putrid this year.
Igor, their bottom 6 playing over their heads, and their soft schedule has masked their issues.
Trouba and Lindgren have been total shit. zibanejad has fallen off a cliff.

Yes, they are decent.
They have enough holes that they are not a threat to go far in the playoffs but they're better than the dreck that will be fighting for #8 in the east.

It was a stupid hire from the start.
I really don’t think it did much, if anything at all to save their season last year. They probably still finish in the same spot with Lambert sticking around. If anything maybe it was one of those coaching changes that made guys wake up and feel bad about getting the coach fired. Especially when one player (Cizikas maybe?) was very vocal about the players chanting for Lambert’s firing and telling them to stay home if they wanna come to the games and chant stuff like that.
Roy in Colorado was a disaster, outside of the one FLUKE playoff season/Jackass Adams year.

Whatever he's having them play clearly isn't working. They've given up only 13 goals in the first and second periods apiece. In the third period, they've given up 33, including three last night. Four GAs in OT on top of that.

I dunno - they have a lot of injuries, and Roy hasn't even had a year.
I think Roy is there for a while. The change from how they played under Lambert is pretty significant.
IMO, Isles are more likely to make a trade to add someone.

If anything I think that just proves Lambert sucks. I’m not sure why he was put in charge after Trotz got fired anyway.
I’m surprised he’s not an assistant in Nashville with his boy Trotz. Maybe he’ll be there today after Brunette is fired?
It’s possible Roy is now a better coach than the first time, but his stint with Colorado was really the antithesis of a good analytical team. They were heralded as Team Unsustainable that entire first season. They made the playoffs and missed the next two years.
And he was even gonna come back for a fourth year, but he was the one who jumped ship.

Last year was the last Cup chance for NYR, their core is completely cooked and they'll probably lose Shesterkin or give him a massive deal which will further cripple their chances of a Cup and delaying a re-tool/rebuild. You guys just have massive PTSD as Devils fans which is fine but they're about to reap the bill for their rosters the past decade. Trocheck isn't even looking good this year when he was almost a PPG center last year, Zibanejad looks disinterested, their backend of the defense blows.

I feel like it’s easy money that Mike Sullivan will be the head coach there next year. I’ve been calling Sullivan to the Rangers since last year.
They’ll probably need to at least lose in the cup finals for Lavi and probably even Drury to survive and get to come back for another season.

I can never completely write off the Rangers so long as they have Shesty. Luckily, this may be his last year in NYC. But I don't think it'll come to that. It's much easier to imagine Miller shipped out to make room for their big goalie contract.
