What's going on in Colorado? Is it simply goaltending or is the team a mess?
Mostly goaltending.

People forgot that Georgiev wasn’t good just because of his 22-23 season.

That was the only good season of his career. Maybe one of his Rangers years was decent, but he was mediocre overall there.

And he sucked last year in Colorado.

And now they’re just letting him embarrass them every night so far.

The first 2 Avs games, they got destroyed by goaltending, they legit looked meh tonight. Injuries are gonna cave them, if anything. And I don't think they're going to have an Oilers bounce back, The Oilers were legit playing good hockey and Skinner looked like an ECHL. The Avs aren't getting goaltending but they also aren't defending the way the Oilers did pre bounce back last year

They lost some depth and are dealing with multiple injuries yet again.

Nichushkin was suspended in May and can’t return until at least November.

Lehkonen had shoulder surgery in May and hasn’t come back yet.

Drouin played in the 1st game and then got injured.

If you look at this projected line-up that’s means they’re without 3 players from their top 6 plus this has Landeskog.

Landeskog hasn’t played since they won the Cup in 2022, but he was skating this summer until he had a mysterious setback.

This current forwards line-up has obvious depth issues:

Less is missing from the defense, but if you look again at that projected line-up, they got the bottom pair wrong.

They traded Brannstrom to Vancouver in Tucker Poolman cap dump. Kylington lost his spot in the top 6.

Sam Milinski and Calvin de Haan won the last two spots.

Then both Toews and de Haan got injured after the 2nd game, which is how they ended up with this vs the Isles:

Finally, yeah, the goaltending is struggling.

The numbers look good but they also have like nooooooooo depth up front so I could see them underperforming with the offense outside of the stars not being able to finish in line with expected and the lackluster goaltending.

Lots of former Devils involved in this car wreck.

I can't remember Zacha showing he ever cared here?

I got a hint for you, Larry. He’s just not that good.

And then he's gunna get in against the devils, which means mcturd in as well. Can both just disappear forever

Barzal casually saying to Mackinnon, "nice hit dude"

You know they are saving Rempe to play NJ. They want him fresh and unsuspended.

Good thing Keefe has implemented a little “sociopath” with the team lol.
I’d like to think Keefe and Laviolette can agree not to play MacDermid and Rempe but that’s asking too much. Maybe if NJ is doing well enough when they play each other the Rangers will want their best players in the lineup rather than Rempe.

So is the Trapezoid dead now?

'Cause I thought Goaltender's weren't allowed to leave their creases like that....

Huh? The Brodeur Trapezoid Rule only covers the area behind the goal line.

The safe area is a trapezoid shown here, and only the corners below the goal line are off-limits.

The goalie can go everywhere else. When they’re out of the crease they’re open to incidental contact. (Not checks tho.)

The Canucks are looking like the most overrated team coming into this year. It's still early, they're in the joke Pacific and they have no Demko, so they can still be a good team this year.

But the media were talking them up as a playoff lock, jocking Rick Tocchet and scoffing at his record prior to joining the Canucks and acting like he/the front office fixed them in a year and they're good to go.

I did not know that.

I thought they weren't allowed to leave their crease (and the area close to it) ANYWHERE.

I don't even know who out of the Canucks, Avs, Oilers get out of their early season struggles. Canucks might be cooked over a long season without Demko, Avs are cooked with their goalies/they have no depth with what's happened to them in the bottom 6 and the Oilers defense is rotten/Skinner blows

The only rule I know like that is that the goalie can't play the puck over the center line, and I only know this from Patrick Roy's meltdown in his last game with the Habs, where he took the puck and rushed it up the ice.

It feels like there’s a goalie goal every other year nowadays.

I’m starting to become done with the Oilers too. I’m not backing down that they can’t win one of the next cups. I said I think they’d win one of the next three after they were eliminated in 2023.

But I’m so done with Skinner. People acted like he was shit, despite the fact that he was a fine goalie in the regular season. They may be right now though. I don’t have any trust of them winning the cup with him.

And I know one thing. Teams needs to stop overpaying for goalies like Daccord and the like. And that goes for the Oilers once they need to re-up Skinner. They better not dump too much money into keeping him.

Nah, the defense is too cooked to win anything and Skinner blows. If this keeps up, McDavid is gonna walk in 2025.
