Ulmark’s a lot of that fire but I like Ottawa’s chances and I’m rooting for them.
Adding Nick Jensen has done wonders because Chabot has been fire on a pairing with him.
It’s unfortunate that Zub fractured his foot in November, when the Sanderson/Zub pair is reunited their defense will really solidify.

Matt Cooke, the poster child for doing dangerous shit was at least, honestly, a tolerably good hockey player. He'd have a place in the league either way. Tom Wilson was a rather good hockey player there for a little bit (and I guess is back to it now after a rough year?).
Rempe makes those dudes look like Mario Lemeiux. He's an "18 point pace in the AHL" guy who can't go 5 games without a call from player safety. It doesn't have to be this way, lol

I honestly won’t be upset if Rempe isn’t suspended if it means MacDermid will beat his ass on Monday. Unless he runs away again like a chicken shit.
I'm so beyond being angry at Rempe. I'm even beyond being pissed at Parros and DOPS. At this point I'm just disgusted this is allowed to go on without anyone saying anything about it.
I found out about this hit when I woke up, and I thought "surely there's some scathing piece of writing by a high profile hockey writer about how absurd and dysfunctional this all is. That this player can be brought up to the lineup with the obvious purpose of injuring people, and then sent back down to the minors MULTIPLE TIMES is terribly embarrassing for the league and the sport.
Surely there's some piece from Shayna or Arthur about how the Rangers have taken the lessons of Tom Wilson too far, that the sugar high from his heavy hits and provocation is not worth the long term damage being done.
Surely there's some piece from a prominent Dallas writers outraged that their best player is allowed to be targeted like this, and connecting it to the complete abdication of the league and the Player's Association's duties to keep players save.

I really don't know how much longer I can stick with it. I really love the Devils, I love watching the Hughes brothers, Bratt, Hischier, Pesce, Hamilton, et al. They play some of the best hockey I've ever seen the team play. But I'm going to be furious all over again when something like this happens to a Devils player, and no doubt it will. And eventually the anger and disgust just won't be worth it anymore.

I will believe McDermid is a deterrent if nothing does happen to any Devils from Rempe on Monday, that is assuming Rempe isn't suspended.
I could make the argument that Lazar got injured because Gudas was getting even after the earlier McDermid hit on him during that Duck game.
If MacDermid does his job he will fight Rempe from the first shift. Multiple times if necessary. Don’t give Rempe a chance to actually play.

Hopefully he'll get a multiple game suspension, if it's just one game he'll sit out tomorrow vs the Canes and suit up against us.

There is no minimum, it just allows them to suspend for more than 5. But realistically it means a long suspension and he is out for Monday.
By rule - you are correct. In practice, they generally do not offer in person hearings unless that threshold will be crossed.
Could end up being brought down by a game or two on appeal but it would be shocking if he plays against a the Devils
yes. Any appeal (if it is 6 or more games) will just impact the money Rempe gets taken away (unless he gets a long 15+ games suspension, which I doubt). The NHL can string out the appeals process where it takes longer than the number of games served. Players can’t play during an appeal

Rempe has gotta be the biggest broke dick in the league.
He already makes pretty nearly league minimum, he mostly plays in the AHL which I’m assuming his salary there is far less, and he keeps losing what little NHL money he makes to suspensions.

It’s a copycat league. It won’t be overnight but teams will pick a few thugs like him in late rounds and they will start filtering up. When they are young and don’t need to pass through waivers it’s an easy thing do do.In the ECHL for sure.

How soul-less do you have to be to sleep ok at night getting paid for doing nothing other than giving other people serious injuries.
He’s a kid. He’s being manipulated and all he knows is this is his only chance to have a career. It’s a form of child abuse in my view. I’m all for MacDermid pummeling him as a lesson. Preferably more than once. But the guys who really need the beating are the alleged grownups who have so little respect for the players and the game they send an impressionable kid out there to get CTE knowing he’s just going to try to hurt someone and that he lacks the skill to do so within the rules.
