Their rebuild is coming along very nicely. Happy for them. They have some studs and they have some guys who could be studs if they can just manage to take the next step

I'm not a fan of allen/markstrom trades as combination of moves. Woukd be better to use one of those assets for more long term piece.

I’m still pretty high on the team’s future. But yeah, doesn’t mean the last 2 seasons have been acceptable.
I think Markstrom's overrated but he should be enough for a contending team. This team SHOULD be a win now team with those moves making total sense and we would've been a contender this year if Fitz didn't spend back to back summers letting the forward group wither away.

We should see big trade I guess. Because I don't believe we are ready to spend big for what is available on the ufa market.
Yeah the future still looks fine. The core should still be one of the best in the league. The D group should need minimal work for half a decade. The forward group *shouldn't* be a super hard fix (might be because of the lack of cap space). At the end of the day that doesn't excuse wasting the 2 years of these guys peak years.

Basically where I’m at. The bottom-6 needs so much work. Grits should help, Cotter is fine there, Noesen too. Other than that, they need help. Glass and Sprong being skilled/speedy wingers gives me hope Fitz understands.

May be he will start to draft for talent and not just for size.
Nearly gave Newhook a tap in back door but didn't connect.
Ideally to me we'd also be adding a top 6er and I'd like to be able to slide Noesen to the 4th line and be able to go Cotter-Glass-Noesen. Someone pls save us from Palat. Move out Palat/Haula money for 3C and top 6W. I'd want another like middle 6er/good 3rd liner but I think we'd have to settle for Noesen in the top 9 again instead. Some disgruntled young good forward becoming available and being able to swap Nemec for them would be very very nice. Need a new Hall for Larsson.
My one real big concern for the future is the D is set up to have so many grenade handlers for forever. Pls save us Quinn.

Montreal is playing a really stupid game. Hopefully someone makes a play and they win. Chicago is badly out chancing them. The Habs are all worked up about this Demidoff debut, but they need to calm down and stick to what got them here this year, structure and patience, and stop just going up and down the ice with the Hawks and stop taking stupid penalties.
They have to win this game. And in regulation would be good too. They can blow the playoff spot tonight. Go back to your normal lines and calm down.

lol He set up Newhook again to no avail. Newhook could've had 4 from Demidov and just has the one. This is like watching Jack and Bratt try to deal with Palat.

I'm no Habs fan but watching that Demidov goal with that "et la but!!!" play by play kinda gets me fired up. The Habs might be nasty I fear

I couldn’t care less, really. Losing Jack is what stinks. It would be around a coin flip at best with Carolina regardless of how well the year went. We are way better than Montreal, this year just had lots of weirdness for both teams in opposite directions.
They still kind of suck now but the future looks good. I think 2 real important things for them is Reinbacher developing into a top pair guy and getting at least another low end 1C level player. Demidov/Caufield/Suzuki/Slaf is a good core of forwards but needs another center. If Reinbacher develops then Hutson/Guhle/Reinbacher is a really good group of top 3D

Thanks for sharing, interesting stuff. I appreciate analytics/advanced stats and I consult them regularly, but I don't think any amount of stats could make me feel fine with the fact that we’re basically tied with the heavily rebuilding Canadiens in points, especially after our start to the year.
