Really is a garden of dreams

Saying the Devils backed in or needed the Flyers to do it for us is disingenuous. The last month

Devils 8-5-1
Columbus 5-8-1
Rangers 5-8-1


They did what they had to do in the last stretch.

They also beat the Rangers and Blue Jackets a combined three times during the stretch.

Man, the Rangers are ass. I'm listening to The Sheet from a couple days ago and reveling in the focus on their problems. The guest is right- they lose confidence very easily. Mentally fragile and entitled bunch. Reminds me of us last year.

People make too much of the mentally fragile stuff. The alarm bells have been there for years. They haven’t been a good 5v5 team and rode a lethal PP and goaltending. Age as caught up to them Zib stopped being a productive midway through last season, Kreider had serious injuries, and Panarin took a step back because of age. Suddenly the PP isn’t as good and Shesterkian had a more pedestrian year.

Age as caught up to them Zib stopped being a productive midway through last season, Kreider had serious injuries, and Panarin took a step back because of age. Suddenly the PP isn’t as good and Shesterkian had a more pedestrian year.

They also completely retooled their defense midseason and K'Andre Miller took a step back. Trouba, Lindgren, and Mancini were shipped out and Borgen, Vaakaninen, and Soucy were added. No one back there is reliable save Fox and nobody could make a save for him.

Quick looks cooked

He had to reinvent his game in 2023, which essentially bought him 3 more seasons, as he’s already been extended for next season.

But I think it probably only worked to give him one more good year.

He hasn’t completely morphed back into the over-aggressive Quick of 22-23 that looked done before he changed his game. But maybe now he’s just old and doesn’t have it anymore. He’s 39.

39? Wow, how is he able to even bend over to lace up his skates? Do they have to get him a specially made wheelchair to accommodate his pads? What about getting those depends to fit under his jock? You'd think he'd have stopped playing goal by now and focused on getting to the bingo hall.

Exactly, we've been talking for years about how badly they tend to get caved in, especially in the years they've made the playoffs; this entire time they've lacked depth beyond their top stars, they tend to play a terrible possession game, and they mostly lean on Igor to bail them out (along with some playoff luck regarding the health of opposing goalies). Now, this year, guys got old, Igor couldn't shoulder the load like he used to, etc., it was all chickens coming home to roost. They've been a good team masquerading as a great one, but since it's the Rangers the talking heads of the NHL kept falling for their schtick and picking them as prohibitive favorites every year.

Now, the real question, does anyone have some video of the crowd's reaction to the end of this game or the one against Tampa?

I don’t remember anyone here really wanting him.

He played with the Sens a few years back, but has been in Europe until this year. But he’s been in the AHL for much of the year.

He blew the Nashville game where they were up by 2 with 4 minutes left. and now he can't stop a beachball in this one. I can't see how the AHL wouldn't be a challenge for him.

Canes have been the better team for most of the night it seems. Unfortunately the Caps shooting bender will never end this season.

One thing that gives me hope is the Canes goaltending.
