OOT Scoreboard 2024 25 Season Part II

Not impossible Ottawa chokes their spot away, especially if they lose tonight
Sens have about as much chance of missing the playoffs as we do.

I’d love to see Ottawa heading into the playoffs feeling good. It would be great to see them upset the Leafs in the first round. And I don’t hate the Leafs as much as the rest of the hockey world does it seems but it would be great to see the meltdown in Toronto. Plus a battle of the Tkachuks in the second round could be cool too.

If the finalist for the Norris are:

Cale Makar, Zach Werenski and Quinn Hughes... which I think it will be...

All 3 will have been NCAA Defensemen...I wonder if that's ever happened before?

NYR can max out at 93 points and since the tiebreaker is still up in the air (NJ 35 RW vs NYR 32 RW) we would need 94 points to clinch. So 94 (points to clinch) minus 87 (current points) means the magic number is 7.

If we beat NYR in regulation then the Rangers maximum points drops to 91, points needed to clinch drops to 92, and NJ current points rises to 89. So the magic number becomes 3. So tomorrow is a 4 point game.

Neither team plays Sunday. NYR host Tampa Monday night If they drop that game in regulation then the magic number becomes 1, NYR would need to win out AND we would need to drop every remaining point to miss.

We host Boston on Tuesday which is the earliest possible chance for us to clinch. If NYR gets 0 points in their next two games, then 1 point clinches. If NYR gets 1 points in their next two games, a win of any kind vs Boston will clinch.

It should be noted that CBJ has the same number of maximum points left as NYR, but we have already guaranteed the tiebreaker with them (NJ 35 RW vs CBJ 24 RW). Even if they win every remaining game in regulation, we maintain the tiebreaker. So even if they get to 93 points, we only need 93 because our 93 is better than their 93. For the NYR, we need 94 the tiebreaker is still in play.

That list is kind of funny. You've got him, Orr, Bourque, Housley, MacInnis, Potvin, Coffey, Green...and Kevin Hatcher.
Does Kevin Hatcher surprise you? I remember him leading the Capitals in scoring one year, it was a pretty big deal... Ironically it wasn't the year he scored 34.

Was kind of surprised Gonchar didn't do it ... I remember he had a big goal year one year.

So if we lose tomorrow in regulation we can't possibly clinch at home on Tuesday correct?
