OOT Scoreboard 2024 25 Season Part II

Wait a minute, I’m sure this was talked about plenty when Jones was traded there, but isn’t he still a really bad defenseman? Or just an okay defenseman with a really bad contract/cap hit?

I’m probably overreaching here and I forget exactly when he was traded there, but their record over the last few weeks has been not good and they haven’t won a game in regulation in 3.5 weeks. I’m not completely blaming him, but this doesn’t look like it’s been an upgrade at all.
He actually was great tonight, except for that one boo boo lol

Looking at his other game cards, hes been solid there

Ironically, since he was on the ice for 2 GA, Seth Jones had an overall strong game. Shit happens when you play 27:28 (!) minutes in one game.

Boston is now last in the conference. Just shows how tight 8th to 16th was in the East as they were in the playoff race a few weeks ago. All mediocre teams and no dumpster teams like we see in the west.

It also shows how bad Boston has been and how bad Buffalo was that it took Boston going 1-8-1 with a 9 game losing streak in their past 10 and Buffalo going 7-3 in their past 10 to get Buffalo to be 1 point ahead of Boston.

Watched the replay of the habs game. A lucky bounce and some horrendous goaltending in ot. Nothing special. The way it was being hyped I expected some kind of heroics...
Yeah it was more about the absolute unpredictability of those last 25 seconds starting with an icing that had habs players all with 2+ min shifts. The explosion from the crowd on the fortunate goal and the quick ot winner. All with the backdrop of the Habs fighting for the playoffs

I watched the entire game live. It was good shit

It’s probably gonna be Fleury tonight if I had to guess, they may have already announced it.

Although, Hynes may not feel so comfortable not playing Gustavsson right now. They’re not at all in danger to lose a playoff spot, but it’s looking like second wild card if they don’t get it together and until St. Louis finally loses a game.

Fleury's stats from February and March don't look so hot.
Save percentage is above league average, but he's breaking below even in goals expected.

Hynes system is very easy for goalies and a .903% goalie is obviously not cutting it behind Hynes very easy to play goalie behind system!:sarcasm:

It was really awesome to see how well Fleury responded to some of those playoff blowups in the early 2010s. He’s been stellar in the playoffs since.

Fleury did a quick interview on John Scott’s podcast within the last few weeks. He mentioned how Marty was his favorite growing up. Even more of a reason to like him. It did get me thinking about their head to head stats

I knew we had the Penguins number for a while but damn I didn’t realize how dominant Marty was when facing Fleury’s penguins.

I knew Marty had a lopsided wins record over Fleury in the head to head matchup, but didn't realize they had an equal save percentage. I never would have guessed that.

Oh, never mind, that's CAREER save percentage for both! Not save percentage when facing each other!

Anyway, Gustavsson appears to be starting per Wild beat reporter Michael Russo.

Hynes is the last coach who would be sentimental, we saw it first hand with Schneider/Kinkaid. He's gonna ride the hot hand, his goalie decisions were usually on point as coach even though he couldn't do much else. Let's hope Minnesota is pissed for losing twice to us on a B2B, they can win that game up front granted they're missing Kaprizov and JEE.
