OOT Scoreboard 2024 25 Season Part II

Nashville are honestly the biggest joke in the league this year.

We all know the Sharks and Hawks suck. They were supposed to. Nobody really expects anything from Buffalo anymore.

People were calling Nashville cup contenders because they signed these old guys.

Watching Ovie inch his way closer to the record gets me all hyped. Every time I check the Caps score I'm hoping to see his name pop up as one of the goal scorers

Nashville needs to fire Trotz. Consider it a failure and move on.

Blow it up. All these 30+ year old guys have to go.

Which is like 90% of the team.

Some of these guys would still be useful if you dispersed them throughout the league to other teams. No way they should all be on the same team though.

After the sweep of Minnesota and virtually a week off attention turns to the Out of Town Scoreboard. Here is the latest magic number watch for the Devils for clinching over the remaining teams sitting on the outside looking in. Note the Devils have already clinched the RW tiebreaker over all the teams except the Rangers. That means the Devils clinch with a tie vs those teams vs needing an additional point vs the Rangers. That is reflected in the magic numbers below.

Magic Number Watch (# of points need to gain/lose to clinch):
Columbus -- 8 points
NY Rangers -- 7 points
Detroit* -- 5 points
NY Islanders -- 5 points
Pittsburgh -- Clinched (Max points is 85)

*- Detroit would need another metro team to also pass the Devils in order to jump over the Devils. The Red Wings are also the position where we would be eliminated from being able to obtain the 1st overall pick.

The earliest possible clinch date is Monday, April 7.

Tonight's Games of Interest:
Predators @ Blue Jackets
Lightning @ Islanders
Red Wings @ Blues
Wild @ NY Rangers (tomorrow night)
I should have included Montreal in this as well. A CBJ win tonight (well on their way) combined with a Habs regulation loss means Columbus would move into 8th. The result would drop the Devils magic number to 7 (over the Rangers). The Devils magic number over Montreal going into tonight was 8 points with the tie breaker clinched already.

I hate the fact that we need to even be thinking about Columbus when we have 35 regulation wins to their 23 regulation wins. Fix the point system please.

3 for regulation win
2 for overtime or shootout and make OT 8 minutes

heck, I'd even be in favor of

4 for regulation
3 for overtime win with 8 minute OT
2 for shootout win
1 for lose

I just hate the fact that garbage shootout is keeping them in it.
