OOT Scoreboard 2024 25 Season Part II

Lightning helping us out with the Islanders today.

I’m slightly skeptical they hold this 3-0 lead though. The Lightning have Johansson in this game and not Vasilevskiy.

Well you were correct. They couldn’t hold the 3-0 lead. They now lead 4-0 heading into the third.

Sometimes it's not about deserving to win.

kucherov really testing my heart with those empty net chances he gave up. any other year with the luck we have, islanders come back and win this game.

idk what the hockey gods are doing, but we are being repayed with amazing out of town scoreboard luck

Losing our superstar C, losing 3 of top 4 dmen, goalie acquisition playing well then get hurt. Things balance out in hockey karma

If we somehow do miss the playoffs it’s like we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Beat the Blue Jackets those last two head to head matchups.

Swept the Canadiens of all teams in the season series and got 6 points to their 1.

Getting all kinds of out of town help for the last little while.

at least we’ll get 4 post season games, not sure the gods can gift us more than that with the way we’re playing.
I don’t know - at least with this year’s club Carolina isn’t going to be able to bully us and push us around. That’s how they killed us 2 years back - pressuring and manhandling us. This years edition of the Devils, despite the missing pieces, actually matches up better against Carolina than our prior incarnations.

Probably Carolina wins but if we get good goaltending . . . I think our chances are better against them than they were in 2023 or against Tampa in 2018 too for that matter. We are built better for playoff hockey this year.

I don’t get why some people are so confident we get into the playoffs. We play the Wild next on a back to back . Feels like a scheduled loss . Rangers can be 5 points back after they play the shitty Sharks . We play the Rangers head to head . That could make it a 3 point lead . Not sure how some are so comfortable that we make it in.
We're still like eight points up with 8-9 games to go lol, I'm not confident in anything related to this team but the margin's still pretty good for the moment because they haven't taken advantage of our drunken stumbling about. Sure if we lose every game and they win every game then it gets hairy but they haven't been consistent enough to go on streaks any more than we have this year and they kinda need one. **** they've lost five of their last six as it is.

The fight for the final playoff spot in the East really is hilarious.

At various points since January literally EVERYBODY has seemed to be the favorite (other than Buffalo and maybe the two PA teams) has looked like they're ready to take it. All of the Blue Jackets, Canadiens, Islanders, Rangers and even Detroit have been on heaters at various times. Sometimes several of these teams are on a heater simultaneously since January and some of them even earlier than that. Boston was in good positioning but imploded around January.

And now it's like nobody wants it.

But I constantly pointed this out before about the second week of January or so that every team above NHL 500 in the East at that point were in a playoff spot and every team at or below NHL 500 were out a playoff spot. That was literally the cutoff for being in the playoffs in the East for a several week stretch between mid December and early January.

Now basically everybody who is over NHL 500 in the East are still in the mix for that last spot.

Blue Jackets win tonight (they're currently down 3-1 with 13 minutes left in the 3rd) and they're on pace to finish the season with 88 points. If the Blue Jackets lose in OT they're on pace for an 87 point finish. If the Blue Jackets lose in regulation they're on pace for an 85 point finish. If the Jackets lose in regulation they will have the same identical record in all three columns and same number of games played as Montreal. I'm not sure who will get the tiebreaker in that scenario?

Now if the Rangers win tonight (why the f*** wouldn't they?) they would jump into the final spot. but both Montreal and Columbus will have two games in hand on them.

I believe our magic number is 10? CBJ can max out at 95 points, but if we tied them at 95 we'd get in because we have clinched the RW tiebraker regardless of what CBJ does.

So any time we gain points or CBJ loses points, that number ticks down and when it gets to 0 we clinch. A win on Monday drops it down to 8.

Go Sharks go ! I can’t see the Sharks winning , but stranger things have happened . You would think that the Rags come out flying after a shitty loss/ choking last night . But then again , they are the Rags and have shown nothing to suggest they get on a roll and play inspired hockey . It’s the complete opposite . Some games they look like they don’t give a shit . Hopefully that’s the case tonight .

The Sharks are seriously an embarrassment at this point.

And we're the only team from that East that they beat twice in regulation this year. The Rangers won't be the next, they already lost to them the first time they played. On the same trip they beat us 1-0.

If I'm looking at this right, this is the Sharks final game of the season against an Eastern opponent.
