OOT Scoreboard 2024 25 Season Part II

The Habs being in the playoff bubble is such an embarrassment
This is merely a symptom of how much of a down year it is for the East.

Where wild card 2 is currently on pace for 87 points.

In a perfect conference right now the Canadiens and Rangers probably flip flop from playoff team to on the outside.

Ottawa replacing Boston is totally warranted, as Boston was bad last year. Nobody knew it. And even with as bad as Boston has been this year, I still don't think people even realize that Boston was actually bad last year, despite finishing high in the standings and winning a playoff round.

Literally the only team in the East that has not been in the conversation for a playoff spot at any point all year is Buffalo.

Even Pittsburgh got close to a spot again after working their way all the back to NHL 500 around Christmas or so, before dropping back below NHL 500 again and staying there.

The Flyers were in the conversation for a while around midseason. The Red Wings had that heater right after the coaching change and were in a playoff spot. Columbus was in a playoff spot for the longest time. The Islanders had the 7 game winning streak right before the break and a couple other smaller heaters.

has an out of town scoreboard ever benefited a team as much as it has the devils this year? Every night it’s more good news it’s a sign the universe wants us in the playoffs
Record in last 10 games:
8. Habs (75 pts), 3-3-4
9. NYI (74 pts), 4-3-3
10. NYR (74 pts), 3-6-1
11. CBJ (73 pts), 2-7-1
12. Detroit (72 pts), 3-7-0

From the article: “In an odd move, Kyle Dubas is forcing his netminders to wear majority white pads this season. It probably has to do with the idea that white pads make a goaltender appear larger in the net. This philosophy completely ignores the idea that darker pads make the puck harder for officials to see and lead to more early whistles during scrambles, when they assume the puck has been frozen by the goalie. Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is also using that to his advantage this season by switching to black blade holders on his skates.

The debate of light vs. dark pads will continue to rage among goaltending circles, but it is absolutely ridiculous for Dubas to mandate his goaltenders' pad colours. Goalies are superstitious creatures. Forcing change on them is, at the very least, an unnecessary risk to their overall confidence and feeling. With the Penguins goaltending situation tenuous at best, a wise man would let them wear whatever they feel most comfortable in.“
Tell me you're drunk on analytics and stats without telling me you're drunk on analytics and stats.

That or the universe wants our corpse to hang in long enough for the grand collapse at the end a la the 2007 Mets.

Ducks and Sharks are both complete and utter jokes. Rangers will probably win tonight and tomorrow.

Imagine losing to these teams...

The Sharks went 2-0-0 over the Leafs, but both times were in the shootout.

They’ve beaten the Hawks 2 times in 3 games so far.

They also beat the Red Wings both times, once in OT.

They’ve beaten Seattle 2 out of 3 times so far.

They beat the Kings 2 out of 3 times so far.

I think that’s everyone they’ve beaten twice.

The Devils are the only Eastern team they beat twice in regulation. They did beat Detroit twice, once in OT. And beat Toronto both times in a shootout.

I don’t get why some people are so confident we get into the playoffs. We play the Wild next on a back to back . Feels like a scheduled loss . Rangers can be 5 points back after they play the shitty Sharks . We play the Rangers head to head . That could make it a 3 point lead . Not sure how some are so comfortable that we make it in.

Lol the Ducks saved your head tonight

I saw the Ducks had brought it to 4-3 and there was like 5 and change left in the 3rd.

I checked the score about 10 or 12 minutes later and could see the game was over, so I expected the Rangers probably won. Was pleasantly surprised to see the Ducks won 5-4 in OT.

They’ve looked done for quite a while now.

I wouldn’t bet on it or try to make this the goal, but I could see wild card 2 making the playoffs with only 87 points, unless someone gets pretty hot.
