OOT Scoreboard 2024 25 Season Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Hyman just had a nasty looking knee injury.

Edit 2: Both are back

This is year two of my “I think the Oilers will win one of the next three cups” and I think I’m definitely less confident in them this year than I was last year.

Maybe this is the year they do it like the Capitals finally did it in 2018, but I’m not as high on them this year.

Think they can still win it next year if they don’t do it this year.

This may be the season the Kings get past the Oil in round 1

Oilers been pretty poopy the last few months, and that was with McDavid and Drai. Without those two, woof.

Skinner just left the game after a knee to the head, looked nasty but hopefully he's alright.

Guess I need an Oilers jersey now

I looked that up for fun, but can’t find any NHL players born on that date.

Jacob Markstrom and I share a birthday, but not nearly the same year.
I share the exact same birthday as Ben Bishop. I think my first real “I’m getting old” moment was him being unable to play after all those injuries.

Lots of other athletes born on that day too, namely Earl Monroe, Ken Griffey Jr., Troy Aikman, and Michael Strahan.

AI spit out David Savard when I asked google but upon further inspection he was born on 10.22.91. AI even lists him as a free agent. lol

Canadiens need to win damn it 🤨

Why? How is that helpful to the Devils?
You mean they need to lose?

They don’t have much bearing on us right now, as they could still pass us in points and not pass us in the standings, but if one of the Metro teams gets going them stumbling could be helpful.

So I would root against them until we clinch.

Jarry let in goals on his first two shots. If I weren’t a lifelong goalie I would laugh. I feel bad for the guy at this point. He just cannot make a save to start the game.

He is still signed through 27-28 lol.
He was a weird signing, as it was Dubas that signed him. The GM who just walked in the door and had no history with him prior to that. And the funny thing is he signed on July 1st. I just can’t remember if he ever actually hit the market or if Dubas signed him during breakfast, much like Lou had signed several free agents on the day of free agency but prior to being allowed to hit the market.
It helps keep the Rangers out? Assuming we hold on to third in the metro. Habs have definitely seemed to run out of their recent magic. It’s also that Dobes hasn’t been as consistent lately.
I think we need to care more about keeping everyone as far as possible from us, rather then care about a team potentially chasing us down getting wins and points just to keep the Rangers out.

That’s right. Dubas has been terrible in many ways. The worst might be him requiring his goalies to wear white pads. Not only do I think it doesn’t make an actual difference in performance but it robs us of some cool sets that both Jarry and Ned have had.

Wait, this is actually true? He doesn't allow his goalie to wear pads that aren't white?

They are not a threat to the Devils. I want them to win their games in hand on the Rangers.
They aren't a threat to the Devils yet, but if one of these Metro teams gets it together for the next 3 weeks, with the Canadiens still motoring along, they could become a threat to the Devils at some point before the season ended.

If you're completely convinced the Metro teams below us are all dead (and they very well could be) then the Canadiens have no bearing on us.

The Devils are the only team that can stop themselves from getting in at this point. They could legit win 2 games and those 2 games could be Isles and Rags games and still make it most likely with how trash everyone else

From the article: “In an odd move, Kyle Dubas is forcing his netminders to wear majority white pads this season. It probably has to do with the idea that white pads make a goaltender appear larger in the net. This philosophy completely ignores the idea that darker pads make the puck harder for officials to see and lead to more early whistles during scrambles, when they assume the puck has been frozen by the goalie. Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is also using that to his advantage this season by switching to black blade holders on his skates.

The debate of light vs. dark pads will continue to rage among goaltending circles, but it is absolutely ridiculous for Dubas to mandate his goaltenders' pad colours. Goalies are superstitious creatures. Forcing change on them is, at the very least, an unnecessary risk to their overall confidence and feeling. With the Penguins goaltending situation tenuous at best, a wise man would let them wear whatever they feel most comfortable in.“
