Rags on 3 game losing steak now.

Erik Karlsson, come on down!
He’s one of the more deceptively washed guys in the league right now.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s not completely awful. He might even be a pretty useful player on a good team where he’s the oldest player; and not a slow, bad team where he’s the fourth oldest player. He would be useful on a cheaper deal, but he’s one player that I call bullshit on the analytics.

Especially his skating speed that I saw was supposedly still very quick. He looks old, slow and I keep forgetting that the Sharks don’t have him on perma-LTIR until I see him on the Pens games.

I don’t think the Rangers would go there. Even they know better than to touch him I think. Unless Pittsburgh retains I don’t know how much. And I don’t even know the rules on how much you’re allowed to retain on a contract that someone else is already retaining on.

I don't think they will either but it's such a Ranger-y move

It's Matt Cooke that really f***ed his career if I'm remembering correctly? Probably a few 100 point seasons by a d-man stolen from us because of him. Karlsson had the talent to do it.

Well that was way early on in his career. He was still pretty good into his 30s, but now he’s close to 35 and has been dropping off a bit.

He had that I don’t wanna say career year a couple of years ago, but it seemed to be a one year return to his prime. If not for that year he might still be rotting on the Sharks, but now he gets to rot with a bunch of guys even older than he is over on the Pens instead.

What a weird Saturday for NHL hockey.

First we had a double header matinee featuring last year’s #1 team in the league vs last year’s (and still this year’s) #31 team in the league.

Then the battle of mid between the Rangers and Bruins. To be fair, I think most people thought at least one of those teams, if not both would be good this year. There were a lot of signs that the Bruins way overachieved last year.

Only 9 games total and just one in the Pacific time zone prime time and it’s the Flames against the streaking Humpty Red Wings.

And I think this officially seals the Rangers missing the playoffs, unless they have a run in them that’s better than any run they’ve had this season. Including their run in the first month of the season. The last week cancelled out the 10 game undefeated in regulation streak before that.

18-11-2 the rest of the way gets them to 90 points. 20-8-3 gets them to 95 points.

And funny the two hottest humpty heaters right now (Red Wings and Islanders) are 1 and 2 in toughest remaining strength of schedule.

3-4 weeks ago it was the Red Wings and Canadiens on the humpty heaters, 2-3 weeks ago it was still the Canadiens, and Rangers, now the last 1-2 weeks it’s the Red Wings again and the Islanders.

And if you go back months ago the Pens were on one that brought them all the way back to NHL 500 after being like 7-8 games under NHL 500 before falling apart again. The Flyers were also on one at one point a while back.

All of the teams we need to lose are favored to lose tonight. So lets see how many of them lose.

No way all of the Islanders, Red Wings and Columbus can win tonight, right?

Now we get to watch all the inferior teams behind us beat teams they shouldn't be beating.

We did have one pretty good night on the out of town scoreboard about a week ago or earlier this week. I'd have to read my post to see exactly what night that was.
