OOT Scoreboard 2024-25 season - part II

Of course the caps won.

Devils are likely already set with being stuck playing the Canes. It's just a matter of if they get home ice or are stuck being the 3 seed. Not an ideal situation since that's a horrible match up.

Caps are once again over performing and being PDO merchants.

Washington is 100% on the 2022-23 Boston Bruins script. Good team that’s way over-performing their actual talent in the regular season making them look like a great team. They have a nice d core and I can see them winning a round but when your most dangerous offensive weapon is a nearly 40 year old Ovechkin I don’t think that’s gonna work the whole way through.

Meanwhile the wildcard race is so pathetic, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if the rangers managed to get into the playoffs after all.

The Rangers are at the end of their difficult stretch and are only 1 game out of the last spot. 10 of their next 13 games are against fellow East bubble teams.

This seems to be right around the time where DD enters the chat to tell us that all the bubble teams who are now over NHL 500 are coming for us and all of them will make the playoffs. Especially the Rangers lol.

Is it so bad that I can honestly see the Rangers get in over some of those teams? CBJ, Montreal, Detroit. All bad and all barely out of the playoffs.

Actually, Columbus is in a spot now and Montreal would be tied on points percentage with Ottawa for the final wild card.

Yeah for as bad as the rangers have been they can be better than those teams if their stars step up.
I think Detroit probably got the coaching bump/market correction to push them up.

I don’t think Detroit were ever bottom of the league or conference bad like they were at the time of the coaching change. They’re probably closer to what they were last year, which was a 90 point team. I think they’re realistically an 80-90 point team and not a 75 point/sub 75 point team. This year 90 points might get you into the playoffs in the East.

Columbus is overachieving. Nice story and I said from the start that I liked the Evason hiring. I was interested in him when Minnesota fired him and we still had Ruff last year. They’re also shooting above average by about a full percent. It looks like Evason has opened up the offense a bit.

Montreal was another team near the basement much like Detroit. I’m pretty sure what we’re seeing right now from them is one of those surges that just takes them out of the bottom.

Even Pittsburgh had a surge a bit back after being 7 or 8 games below NHL 500. And they’ve been middling and barely able to break over NHL 500 ever since.

Detroit on a HEATER. #yzerplan

Hilarious that we struggled mightily just to get 3 goals on Grubauer in 60 minutes of icetime.

It only took Detroit 6 minutes to score 3 goals on Grubauer today and that was the end of him. And Columbus scored 5 goals in 35 minutes on him in his last game and he was yanked. I'm surprised he was yanked today, as this is a back to back and Daccord played yesterday.

Seattle is a bad team, but they have NO CHANCE when Grubauer plays. The disparity in numbers between Grubauer and Daccord over these last two seasons is ASTRONOMICAL. Grubauer is definitely the worst goalie in the league that's been an NHL regular all season/went into the season with the plan to be an NHL regular. That's gotta be undisputed at this point.

The numbers between Grubauer and Daccord over the last two seasons are even further apart than Blackwood and non-Blackwood Devils goalies in 22-23 and Marty and Cory in 13-14. Maybe even TWICE as further.

With the extension they gave Daccord that starts next year I have to think Grubauer is a lock for a buyout, unless he's LTIR fodder.

And this bozo club/Disco Dan gave him the start on opening night and were still alternating goalies through the first couple weeks of the season.

I don't know what their AHL goalie situation is like, but the last two games feel like the kind of games that get a goalie waived and thrown in the AHL.

I'm not following this game. Did Grubauer get relieved because of injury? I can't believe coach Doback was so quick to pull him that early after Daccord played yesterday.

This might be the game that gets Grubauer on waivers, especially after he had to be pulled for 5 goals early in the 2nd period in his last game.

I could see Detroit and the rangers getting in instead of Ottawa and Boston. Outside chance for Pittsburgh I guess. Montreal and Columbus don’t seem like they’re good enough at the end of the day.

Seems like Ron Francis is on the hot seat. Apparently the CEO went on the road trip.
Yeah, then he's (probably) done at the end of this year. Maybe they clip him before the deadline.

I wasn't sure how competitive their owners expected them to be, seeing as they're a 4 year old expansion team. I wonder if the playoff berth 2 years ago might have made the expectations go up.
