The same exact absolute losers who would have torn him apart had he cruised in and had the puck hop over his stick Patrik Stefan style causing him to miss the empty net.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with anything that happened on that play until Reilly goons it up. This dinosaur league won't properly punish him because 1. They are dinosaurs and 2. It was a Toronto player that did it. A relatively important one. The only way an actual punishment would happen for that play is if it was Matthews or some other star firing it into an empty net then getting checked in the head by a non star player on a small market team.

Is this a serious take? The NHL doesn’t allow retaliatory cross checks to the head after plays even if some people think they’re deserved.
Rielly could have dropped the gloves, but he’s a soft baby so he f***ed around and will soon find out what it got him.

He attacked a guy with a stick up high when that player was vulnerable after the play ended and the clock was stopped. Reilly should sit for 10 games but maybe he gets two or three at most? Again the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. Clean up the game or just bring back the 1980s these lip service BS half measures make it more dangerous not less. Just pathetic.

Senators player had many options and chose that one. What happens after that is chaos. You don't do a windmill dunk with a few seconds left to close out a game you were leading. I know this is also about culture. Kinda reminds me of the Yakupov OT celebration years ago that had the league taking about the "right kind" of celebrations. Hughes tosses his stick to the fans and the NHL cemented itself a superstar.
And no, I do not condone Rielly's high stick.

I took that noise from that goalie expert about it being a good signing and that Korpisalo legit turned a corner after his 2022 offseason hip surgery, and last year wasn't just an up year about as seriously as Tony and Chris took the ''We're with the Vipers!'' Grizzly Adams douchebag seriously.

I wouldnt care how a player puts the puck into an empty net. Whatsoever.
I get that the Senator overdid it. But it’s been a frustrating season for them and it’s probably a lot more about that than just one meaningless win over the Leafs. If I’m the Ottawa coach that’s the question I’m asking him. What were you emphasizing? Does the player realize the team is still struggling and one win should not be a big deal. Beyond that Reilly went overboard. If you want to confront the guy and tell him not to showboat and maybe push and shove a bit while he’s facing you no big deal. Challenge him to a fight face to face. Again no big deal. The cheap shot was grossly inappropriate and shows just how screwed up the game has become. Just stupid and cheap and pointless. The league should be ashamed of itself for what it has allowed and so should the NHLPA.
