Olympics: ooo

There always people that will embellish like a person that says they played in the nfl when they were only at a rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and then not offered a contract for the main training camp. But if this guy didn’t even seemingly play a high level to feed into the Olympic team that’s even odder.

A guy named Dwayne on a Latvian Olympic team in 1980, back when Latvia did not exist?

These boards are chock full of Latvians like myself and we know literally every single Latvian who ever played at the Olympics. And believe it or not, we also have websites, you dweeb.

You might consider editing your name out of your post if you’re concerned that the thread could get back to him and cause issues for you at work. In my experience people who are habitual liars don’t respond well when called out / backed into a corner (not that this guy is necessarily lying… just saying)

I subscribe to several hockey reference sites and this guys name appears nowhere

Here is the crazy thing. Maybe cause I am just one of those geeks. But I have spent about 4 hours researching every single player who PLAYED on the Canadian team and the 5 "black aces" they carried and I can find the players mentioned on several websites. all players are listed on every hockey reference site with what teams they played on both before and after the games. I can not find anyone with his last name on any site that would have been of age during the 1980 games. I have found several Gantz born in the 1990's but they are Swedish.

I think we have found an interesting WTF. Like a few here I have sent some emails asking for clarification but so far their is no response. I do find one thing interesting. HE had the post from the OP in his Linkedin feed but now he was deleted all of them and all comments on that post have been deleted as well. Like many business people, I am on linked in and I find it interesting not only has the post been deleted on is own profile but it has also been deleted on the companies profile page as well. It was on both this time yesterday.

So far to him on his linkedin profile. He has been active on linkedin so he has gotten my message, Church Mutual insurance, Hockey Canada, IIHF and a couple of other people. I am curious about this guys claims. The fact that he has ZERO hockey stats is what I find interesting. Everyone else associated with 80 team is listed in multiple places

How was this guy able to get away with it this long? lol. Like he just walked into rooms and said "hey, I'm a former Olympian!" and everyone just went with it? Did anybody know this guy or did he just show up at 40 in the year 2000 and announce he played 20 years ago?

As a "nobody" at the company there was no way I was going to go in and challenge an officer and call bullshit on his claim of Olympic Glory! lol
I just think it's totally unethical and devious that he fabricates such a story that's easily reputable by a 30 second google search and all these folks are oblivious.
He's also the F'n CFO of the Company, so you'd think there would've/should've been a bit of a background check done before he came aboard.
Might start telling people at the Co. I was the 4th String QB for the Packers in 2019. Just don't "google it!" lol 🤞

I have also emailed his company asking what is going on. There are dozen of articles written on those games and his name has never been mentioned.

I think this is our version of Don't f*** with cat people

Looking at his educational background--I think he may have been THE STICK BOY. If he was the stick boy he can call himself an Olympian. Annoying I know
