Hi Kings fans...

Just curious about Vilardi. Was he at training camp or has he even been skating yet? Any updates?
We all hope he plays this year
The lack of news and his 4 games are kinda scary.

I don't know if he fell to the Kings because of injury concerns the other teams had but this might be the Kings biggest miss since their last big miss

Quite possibly the deepest farm team the Kings have had since Manchester won the Calder Cup.

And we have to keep in mind how many full time NHL players have come from that team, even if you just count the young guys. Or the 10-11 Monarchs. Or the 09-10 Monarchs. It's a process. Sometimes a long one. Too many end up not breaking through. If they have 5 real players in Ontario right now, that would be exceptional.

And the best Monarchs roster was the 2004-05 squad thanks in part to the lockout. That team had about nine players on the roster who went on to be full-time NHLers (four of whom were Kings draft picks).

Now if a miracle happened and Vilardi joined Ontario this season and returned to his dominant self, it would be a huge boost to the Reign offense. A healthy Vilardi with Anderson-Dolan, Kupari, Luff, Sodergran, Prokhorkin. Not all of those names may pan out or be long-term fixtures on the Kings, but the odds at least tip in favor of producing a couple of decent, talented forwards who can contribute. And that's something we can't say the Kings have done in quite some time with regards to drafting top six talent.

Sounds like the Reign may be going with an 11-7 lineup tonight, with Sodergran being the man out on the 4th line. This is likely due (educated guess) to Durzi and Stand both fighting for that 6D spot on the right side, both getting a look. Unfortunate for Sodergran. Besides Sodergran, Morrison, Doty, Phillips and Reddekopp are the extras per reports from the morning skate.

Cal Petersen is having a hell of a game so far.

fyi AHL tv is free this weekend. While the quality is a lot better, the camera guy leaves a lot to be desired

I paid for the month subscription just to check it out and yeah that camera man is just brutal. My goodness. Puck is up the ice and dude is still focused on the players behind. LOL. But Peterson beasted tonight saved all 41 shots. San Jose team dominated the play for most of the second period and most of the third and Peterson was awesome. 5-0 shutout tomorrow going up to play Bakersfield. Great home opener for the JV team.

Well, first night with the new AHL TV set up, camera work needs a lot of improvement. Really nice game by the Reign. Much faster and harder competing team. You could see the new Kings system in play, particularly on the aggressive PK. Need to tighten up leaving the zone, but this is a more skilled and deeper squad than last year overall, mostly with the depth of the roster. Too many players on the roster. Scratches were Rymsha, Sodergran, Morrison, Doty, Reddekopp and Phillips. Durzi was injured in the 1st period and did not return. I did not see what happened (I was in attendance), but I read reports of an elbow to the face. Reign went with 7D last night, so Stothers looked like a genius still having 6D for the game after the injury. Still giving up too many shots, but Cal, who was really dialed in during the NHL preseason, is still in beast mode with a 41 save shutout. Impressed with the experience of Frk and Bouma, really showed. Quality play from all the new guys (JAD, Prokhorkin, Kupari, Anderson).

The camera didn't even catch Kupari's goal until he already scored. AHL TV for ya. But great first game by everyone.
