Maybe. But the Kings have a four-game win streak right now, so don't **** with the chemistry.

I think he joins the team (full time) no sooner than February

Haha, love the 'worst-kept secret' part. Stothers said elsewhere (not sure if this is what you were implicating or paraphrasing) something to the effect of Mersch is too good for this league. Hardly ever see the organization tag a guy like "yes you're up next" so publicly, heh. Very much looking forward to it for him, maybe he's the stretch-run secret weapon that adds the fire juice.

I think it will be king who eventually get replaced However if i was Dean id look at moving Gaborik for a top defenseman. It would clear up some cap and make the move we all think we need on defense Win win

No way does anyone give up a top 4 defensemen for gaborik....

I think the point is that MANY teams are hurting for a top-four defenseman and that one could find younger, better assets in return than Gaborik no matter how much a team may like him.

Assuming the Kings are where they should be in the standings this year, tough to see Lombardi trading anyone to specifically open up a spot. Assuming Lucic wants the big pay day next summer, Mersch would be a nice cheap replacement with potential for next year.

depends on how bad you need some scoring now wouldnt it. However we could add to him if needed Weal looks expendable imo or one of our d becomes expenable for a better d

I agree with Brad, lots of teams looking for D. Besides he will get his shot, injuries are going to happen. If he earns a spot during that time it will be a great problem to have.

Told you guys. :)

What a great steal for the Kings to get him in Round 4, a bit of a late bloomer but by age 20 you knew he was clearly going to be an NHL player

I think it depends on the team and if u think the player is a upgrade on what we have I could see a team like montreal interested and emelin as part of the package back Now this all would depend on if you consider Emelin a upgrade or not

I'm sure Montreal would trade Gaborik for Emelin because Emelin is trash. He's a left-handed, Russian Greene at an inflated salary. That's not a top-four d-man.

Mersch was really raw when he hit the AHL, it's been a pleasure to watch him develop into a real talent.

he's clipping along at point per game with reign. it'll take a little while before he's brought up, but it'll be this season prob.

I agree, we will probably see him when the team falters a bit, but I don't think it will be until the springtime.

Right now, I love how we are clicking on all cylinders. As I pointed out in the Weal thread, Sutter is certain not to **** with the team's chemistry when we are riding a nice win streak.

I'd love to see a Mersch/Weal/Gaborik 3rd line.

2 of Clifford, Nolan, King should go.

Dwight King better tear it up when he returns. Seems pretty clear to me who's spot Mersch could take. Maybe you end up with a monster fourth line of Lewis/Shore between King and Clifford. Two left wings?

Not going to miss Nolan.

Mersch and King are two very different players. They only think they have in common in their size
