I'm starting to wonder about a fit for Ehlers in Columbus

They have the cap room to pay him what he wants, he'd probably have a very prominent role, and it's a small market without much media attention
And their roster is starting to look like a contender, they have the likes of Marchenko, Werenski, Johnson, Fantilli and Mony hands, some pretty good players.

Still seeing Ehlers in any other jersey will hurt, just hope he stays a Jet for life.

I personally believe that ship has sailed. A week out and everyone is saying he's testing the market. It's incredibly rare for a player to see what's out there and circle back. Also if the amount of tampering people claim is happening he already knows what other teams are offering and he's still not inked with us.

Yeah possibly but then again you just never know, the Ehlers news has been radio silence and we are the only team who can give him 8 years, he might not like what he sees on the market and just re-signs or at least that is my hope.

It's entirely possible that Nik just wants a change of scenery, maybe he wants to play where no one recognizes him but I would be floored if he didn't sign with the team offering the most money and term. I am at peace that my favorite player from his first shift will be wearing a different jersey next year and I hope he is happy with decision and continues to have a nice career but for me the day he is no longer a Jet is the day I no longer cheer him on.

I was starting to wonder the same thing.

There's been some scuttle that they are a team to watch that will be in the mix with quite a few things and I could easily see them having interest in Ehlers.

I believe they have over 40M in cap space and their highest paid forward is Monahan at 5.5M. They can certainly get into the bidding if they so choose.

They could really use some dynamism and offensive punch to compliment that line-up which Nik would bring. It would also check the box of the "anonymity" and "quiet market" angle which Dreger was reporting Ehlers having interest in.

One to keep an eye on.

You are better than I. It will be very tough (for me) to see Ehlers in another jersey. Of course I wish him well, he's a great player. One of my favourite Jets all time.

He’s still here and gets heavily criticized
Wait until he signs elsewhere, the knives will be out with the usual suspects

Wait until the first time we play him and someone barely touches him and he flops and we end up on the PK
:laugh: I'm way too much of a softy to let his choreography get in the way of my (overly loyal) appreciation.

As a humble Dane/Swede cubicle-inhabiting keyboard warrior I say we need more vikings - not less - on this team, damn it!

A more baseless and wholly weakened-rationale bearing argument you will not find.:laugh:

/rant over :D

If ehlers is leaving... and the rangers are rumoured to be in on him? To me that team gets their guy when they set their sights on someone

Hoping a 8.5x8 can happen before July but what can you do i guess

Yes, this type of market area, would be right up Nik’s alley. Good possibility for Columbus.
