What is this, 1995? Only 13 for New Jersey! 17 for Philly. Was this game as deadly boring as the stats suggest?
In the past 25 seasons, only the 3 immediately preceeding this one, and 05/06 were higher scoring than this one.I feel like there have been a lot fewer shots this season and someone said that that's in fact been the case statistically. I wonder if we're entering a new dead puck era.
That’s true but even with save percentages being lower than the all of those seasons scoring is lower this season because the amount of shots is similar to the late 90s and early 2000s. If that continues I doubt scoring will stay at this level. In the past 25 seasons, only the 3 immediately preceeding this one, and 05/06 were higher scoring than this one.
We are also seeing the fewest PP opportunities per team per game in recorded history. So we have a big buffer if the scoring becomes an issue.
