Progress last night and not just because they scored a couple. They actually tried different concepts and shifted the center of gravity lower, it wasn't just the Pavelski powerplay.

It will get fixed next training camp when they are allowed to change things about the PP. Real shame the CBA prohibits changing your PP in season.17 minutes of powerplay and all they had to show for it was a shortie against
But you know next game they're going right back to the same five playing the first 1:20 of each PP.The funny thing is injury/availability/sickness actually eventually forced them into what I think are better personnel
Bourque and Nils should be regular parts of the PP in some capacity.... that's why you acquired the players in the first place (and then steadfastly refused to use their strengths)
Madness that Duchene isn't on the top PP unit at this point.
Ah, I see what you’re saying. This is an unusually bad slump, which means they are due, so don’t change anything.in the victory green era (12 seasons, we're old now) the 2024-25 powerplay ranks..
11 of 12 in GF/60
7 of 12 in SF/60
1 of 12 in CF/60
4 of 12 in FF/60
3 of 12 in xGF/60
11 of 12 in Shooting Percentage
yes, continue to save goals for playoffs and consider changing the powerplay up next training camp- everything is going according to planAh, I see what you’re saying. This is an unusually bad slump, which means they are due, so don’t change anything.

Surprised David's article wasn't posted yet
Lots of great information and charts but one of the biggest conclusions here is noting that some of the top powerplays in the league are adaptable. The Stars are not. They run their heads into the wall over and over with the 1-3-1 umbrella without ever morphing into different looks that could confuse or cause hesitation for the PKers.
There are three prongs of futility here:
1) Personnel selection
2) Formation/system
3) Player execution
If you want some fun, go to the NHL stats page, pull up the PP report, and sort by PP ice time per game. Then look over at the PP points/60 column to see how Miro is top 20 in ice time and something like 300+ in actual production. The other guys up high in PP ice time (even the defensemen) are generating several times over the amount of PP offense. With tonight's performance we fell to 29th in Net % barely fending off fellow Stanley Cup Contender Anaheim
