Confirmed with Link: Ongoing Lenovo Center $1.1b Renovation Thread

Possibly. But then again, it could just be another restaurant or bar that is open all year round. Or you could use the space for anything, maybe even expanding the Canes offices into the area and whatnot.

Also, I did just stumble across this proposal from last year. https://wwwcache.wralsportsfan.com/...g_Presentation_2023.02.14-DMID1-5xx8f80sl.pdf

Quite a lot of what is covered in that presentation actually made it through to the main renderings that were shared this year. Couple things worth noting, because I wouldn't be shocked if they still end up happening.... The 2023 presentation called for 2 View bars in the 300 level and 2 more added to the main bowl, next to the Buffalo Brothers area, opening the main concourse to the bowl. That would completely change the feel of the main bowl, and I think for the better.

Also, the 2024 proposal called for the infill of a bunch of stairwells, and I have struggled to understand how that could help with the crowding in the concourse. The 2023 presentation actually demonstrated how it would:

They did seem to modify the plans because I no longer see the East and West Mezzanine Clubs in the new mock up.

What I'm curious about... I see 3 new venues included in this concept that are not parking garages. What are they?

Now that I don't have Season Tickets, I would love a spot where I could come and tailgate with my parents who do, and then just hit up a bar or outdoor plaza adjacent to it to watch the games during the playoffs. Given what is being shown here, I have to imagine that kind of setup is already baked in, just waiting to be announced.

the difficulty of leaving from a parking deck is a design feature, not a bug.

"it'll take a while for the deck to clear out, let's go to the sportsbook for a bit to let traffic die down"

(or bar, or restaurant...)

One of them is the Live Nation Music Venue that can hold 4,000 people

Also, while I did see this when I was in the arena for the concert the other night, I didn't get a good pic of it, but did just see it on Reddit.

They renovated The Eye.

This is the corner closest to the entrance from the concourse.

Is it just me, or is this a much worse use of the space than it was before? I mean it looks pretty, but The Eye is tiny, and this appears to have basically reduced the merchandise on display in that space by half

Apologies, I must just be in the mood to spam today.

So I was looking over the district concept today, and I noticed something that now has me a bit curious. Specifically, I think they threw in the clouds on the concept to hide some additional features they're saving for later.

I just checked with Google Maps and we don't have any road in that location. In fact, its only a ground level open parking lot.

So it begs 2 questions. Why is the road there and not just continuing around the complex like it does now. And what is the structure that is casting that shadow across the road? There's a lot more to this that they haven't shown, isn't there.

Hard to say since the setup looks incomplete and I can't see what's going on with the rest. I think it's been a pretty bad setup and nothing will change that other than an expanded space. Especially now that all games are attended well, I dread going in there when I'm down for games.

I believe they realize that even with the attraction of staying after games for a drink, a bite to eat, and/or laying down a wager, they'll have to radically fix/address ingress and egress issues.

Parking decks, properly designed, aren't any more slow to leave than any other lot. I mean, MLB and NFL teams manage traffic through parking decks all the time. The traffic patterns around the arena are, and have always been the chokepoints, not moving around the parking lot itself. Fix the connection to 40 and you'll have no issue emptying parking decks out.

One would hope, but I ain't putting any money on it. In 25 years, nobody in the centennial authority has managed to realize that yet. Perfect track record of failure. There's even already a direct connection to eastbound Wade Avenue that would help tremendously for both ingress and egress, but they've blocked it off for decades. Because they are specially and uniquely incompetent at traffic management.

Update: Plans were approved last week to move forward with the loading dock renovations as well as main arena bowl renovations, bathroom overhauls and the addition of the 300 level bar, removing sections 317, 318, and 319, and will be completed for the start of the 2025-26 season.

Some more color to the announced phase 1 project. Evidently, Cent. Authority couldn't come to an agreement with CAA ICON for management of the project (supposedly, CAA ICON couldn't get anyone to move to NC <nah, everyone is moving to NC> and they are going to hire someone to manage and use Gensler for guidance.

Between changing architects and now project managers it seems the out of state folks have been maneuvered out of their roles, replaced by locals.

Hopefully, this doesn't backfire.

I have not one iota of knowledge per the move to local management, only what's been posted here and in the N&O but here is my take.

To me it looks like it has Dundon control written all over it. Since his ownership he has consistently gotten his way with the authority starting with the video screen replacement 3 years earlier than planned (a good thing). So there might have been some disagreements between CAA and TD and this "can't find anyone to move" thing is just a smoke screen to gloss over the negativity.

Whether there is any validity to it I have no idea.

That being said I do believe having someone full time on the ground nearby is fundamental to any management of the project(s).

I was just about to reply to you on the other thread, so I'm glad you posted here... lol

So one thing I did notice in the architectural plans that were shared over the summer is that they are looking to fill in many of the stairwells throughout the arena, at least the ones in the corners, and will offset that with a larger escalator/stairwell in the main entrance. By filling that area in, they will significantly open up the concourse, at least the corners, but I'm guessing that will help ease crowding by possibly arranging some high demand concessions to use that space, eliminating lines in the main walking area.

And I'm also going to guess that once the team store is completed which will triple the footprint that it currently has, it'll help ease the need to have multiple satellite stores in the arena, which should help open up space at least in the main concourse as well.

Will you be able to buy tickets to that 300s bar area or is it just open to everyone?Would love to be able to buy a cheap nosebleed ticket and not have to deal with the tiny seat. I’m a big enough guy that sitting in the 300s is just impossible.
The way Florida runs it is that the bar is open to everyone and then you have your assigned seats

i think it's just the one 3rd floor bar taking out 317/318/319
That's a bit better for attendance if it's just the one. Was thinking they were planning on 2 if not 4 of them given the location of the one.

probably literally anyone including people that buy SRO.
