OT: One More Off Topic Off Season Thread

I couldn't find an "Edmonton Area Thread" or anything so I figured that I could just ask you guys here.

I am going to visit Edmonton a few times coming up. I am going to see Cirque du Soleil in early March, going to see the Jets play the Oilers in March, and I'm also coming for a few days in April with my friend Andrew that is visiting me in Calgary from Winnipeg. I was last in Edmonton for the Edmonton Marathon in August and stayed downtown, a block from the ICE District.

I thought it would be simpler to find things to do in that area but it felt like everything closed early on a Saturday and we were left a bit surprised and unsure of what to do. We ended up finding an escape room place and a pretty good restaurant, but even that restaurant seemed to be waiting on us to leave so they could close at around 8PM.

I know there is a lot of great stuff to do in Edmonton and want to be more prepared for these upcoming visits so I want to know what you guys suggest I look into (other than the mall)?

Right?! The drifting has been insane. Seems like half the roads over here on the Lake Huron side of things have been closed since Monday.


Found a guy who buried his jacked up Land Cruiser in a snowbank the other day. I pulled him out and we chatted for a bit. Turns out he was from Edmonton and was Jared Spurgeon's cousin, so that was kind of cool.

I know this is a strange request, but has there been any strange Canada related news recently?

I left Canada on holiday on the 16th. The country I'm staying in blocks 90% of the internet and my VPN won't connect.

Everyone keeps telling me that Canada will soon become America's 51st state, I assume the brain-dead news here is just rehashing what Trump said long before I left the country, but I'd like to be sure.

The latter is correct. Can't get into too much discussion as its all politics, but safe to say that nothing has actually happened related to Canada.
