This picture is a bit more flattering. Considering how many actors in Hollywood end up butchered because of excessive plastic surgery trying to maintain their looks as they age, I think she's doing pretty good for herself as a woman in her 70s. That before and after is looking at her as a 30 year old vs a 71 year old. Forty years is a long time lol.

I know occasionally some of the unofficial “HFOil old timers” club make reference to Stampede Wrestling and characters, from the 60s and 70s,(Saturday afternoons before the one game of the week was on TV/HNIC).

I remember Ed Whalen rolling this dude’s name off his tongue often, Sweet Daddy Siki. Saw this article, thought I’d share.

Pretty much every guy my generation watched Stampede Wrestling. They put on a fantastic show for the times. I definitely remember Sweet Daddy Siki.

True, and the glasses don't help. But just wanted to point out what 40 years can do, and we have no idea what people looked like in their prime. I saw her in a recent movie and I enjoy googling the cast and investigate them and was shocked.

Yes we did. It was great theatre! :)
Nooooooo chancee Mr. Whalen!

Congratulations to your wife, and congratulations to you on a well earned retirement! It would be awesome if you guys could make it down, unfortunately you never got to see Lahaina in all its glory before the fire but there are still many sites to see!
I loved getting a chance o see Lahaina. I'm into history so seeing that was something else, and I'd read about it and the Carthaginian. Both gone now. Such a tragedy.

Strange though how trails off the beaten path end up being the most memorable. For us it was going on Road to Hana and stops and hikes along the way including traversing a bamboo forest with Ginger root growing in ground everywhere and going up to a series of waterfalls. Or 7 sacred falls, or all the bridges and eating wonderful fish in Hana.

On Kauai loved the Napali coastline Trail. Or lounging around Hanalei bay. To me that place is paradise. That and Princeton is probably a lot more developed now. Remember going to some beaches that were no signs of development anywhere, just the way I like it.

Growing up in Edmonton We did have our share of blizzards of course. Blowing snow can be a pain for sure. But until I came out here I never experienced anything quite like a significant snow squall. It can go from clear sky to complete white out is minutes and the amount of snow that can fall is insane. Moreover, you might travel a couple of kilometers and nothing.
Being in Edmonton in the prairies in a more stable weather area and stable geography is underrated. We get none of the mountain influenced storms say Calgary does or the flooding and destruction due to semi-arid hills all around. Its long since forget I guess that places like Edmonton were where settlements made a lot of sense. Good weather, water source, excellent arable soil, edge of Boreal forest, etc.

Now people want to flock to areas like BC lower mainland that are just fraught with problems and always have been. I think there was a brief few decades there where people didn't realize what the typical weather patterns were there was or the massive challenges of the geography. Sea to Mountain looks good. In days past it was always considered a less than ideal place to build a home. Seems like the reasons why only now being rediscovered.

In Edmonton 60's seemed to have the worst weather. Temps and snow amounts. We've had it pretty easy here overall for half a century Black Friday notwithstanding. We don't even get significant hail storms here anymore. Never had a car damaged, never had any property damaged by Hail or weather. Its a once/decade event in Calgary to have either massive damaging hail storms or floods.

Thats Klondike Wrestling in Edmonton. They used to have it at the Sales Pavilion in Edmonton next to the Edmonton Gardens. Dad took me once, never again he said. He would watch on TV but wasn't as much interested in how campy it was in person. Years prior to us watching wrestlers like Al Oeming did the circuit. I think in Calgary they watched the Edmonton shows (Klondike Wrestling) and in Edmonton we got the televised Stampede wrestling. This being before internet it was harder to figure out what happened because basically everything that occurred in matches was repeated as per script. So that if you knew what happened in a match in Calgary same thing would happen in Edmonton or rest of circuit. I don't remember Siki and its an age specific thing. I watched from around 68-72 and then started getting different interests. heh

Make sure you guys don't vote for Poilievre as he doesn't have the vision for canada that all canadians want. Parting wisdom from the ever insightful voice of all canadians Justin Trudeau, least popular prime minister in canadian history who just resigned in disgrace :sarcasm:
