I'd need a few pairs of underwear for that. Probably wearing a parachute too just in case of malfunction.
I'm being evicted right away and need help affording the movers. If you can help, PM me. Thanks.
My wife calls me a "real prize", but she's not referring to my John Thomas, and I'm pretty sure she's dripping with sarcasm when she says it.
So in other words, expectantly right in line with all the previous issues. The Unofficial Valley Line review by me.
Rode both ways yesterday on first day of operations. They still have some kinks to iron out.
1) Door closing is being hazardous. Unlike garage doors there seems to be non functioning reverse sensors. People getting arms trapped and doors not reversing. Others getting shoulder checked by the door closing on them. This wasn't intermittent, it was regular. So that in the case of a stream of people leaving a car in line the door seems timed to just close, regardless if somebody is going through it, and closes on that person. In the case of kids this seems real bad. Accident waiting to happen. (yes the concerns have been furthered to 311
2) Train leaving DT was 14mins late leaving. They had an obvious malfunction. Several of the same repeated announcement of delay. Finally the train advances and we see what the problem was. For multiple blocks through DT the signalling wasn't working so they were again doing line of sight signaling. Sigh. (Metro line all over anyone?) At 101st the lights weren't changing at all and they had to stop traffic so the LRT could go through a red light. But from what we could see is all directions of traffic were facing red light. Not sure if its a scramble intersection there but lights weren't' changing.
3)At MWTC terminus the pathway to the transit station is not at all lined up so people are walking across the tracks and stepping down on the recessed tracks to cross instead of using the crossing that is almost 1 block away from where it should be. This is creating a hazard and somebody will fall, particularly when dark when people may not realize first step down is at least one foot. 90% of people were crossing the tracks to reach or leave the platform. Design fail it appears.
4) Glass at Quarters stop already smashed, who saw that coming. Unless theres some uptick in that area I could see that station being eliminated all together.
5) Not sure what it is about the movement of a surface rail train vs other LRT but the stops and starts are more force, or felt that way when standing. Something about the acceleration and stopping that is quicker. More hanging on, more people jostling about. you HAVE to hand on to the bars on this train if standing.
Theres so many. At MWTC alone so many civic mistakes. For one the Library (expensive) having its doors all facing the wrong way (towards the now closed transit station)So in other words, expectantly right in line with all the previous issues.

The new transit station being located fair distance from the LrT stop. More than a block. The walkway not at all lining up with where people exit the train, thus people taking the shortest path between two points just walking across the sunk tracks to platform.
No foresight to how to validate tickets (the ones you buy in packs of 10) and no explanation either.
I checked with ETS. The paper tickets don't validate in any way with these new sensors. Theres no validation of tickets like at the other LRT lines.
Anyway we were almost amazed that the train got us both ways without breaking down. But I suspect lots of problems. Spoke to a 311 rep and the signaling issue DT was ongoing yesterday. Maybe a problem on Metro line too as tons of people were late arriving at game from that station. People were on the LRT train with us, they were late too. Train takes more time with the stops and starts when people unloading. (of course) Time of trip with people, with less traffic was 35mins.
What's going on?
Glad to see you still posting, man. Back in March 2020, you were one of the few who took to my "conspiracy theories." I was thinking about you recently. I am sorry to hear about what you're going through, but I am glad you are still here.I'm being evicted from my apartment, due to me having a big mess plus being late on the rent a few times, I take in $1869 on disability but paid $840 for cleaning, $450 for packing, $550 of $750 towards moving and $100 for carpet cleaning. Plus I have several other bills. I did get $640 in payday loans and the Bredin Centre for Career Advancement has a homeless setup where they'll pay my $650 in damage deposit. Unfortunately, I had to stay in my apartment until the landlady gives me approval to move in. So, I'm being dinged $75 per day that I'm in here, So kiss my deposit goodbye, But I talked to her and she's allowing me to pay what I owe for November over 5 months. Still. December and January will be tough months money-wise. I'm moving into a shared accommodation in a mobile home with 2 other ladies/
