Our 2 goalies combined are making 4 mill or so. An average to good goalie in the NHL makes 5 or more. A real good elite goalie makes 8 to 10.

Why are we surprised we get shitty goaltending?
That problem is that they're playing worse than shit. These numbers are Shit++.

There isn’t a goalie in the NHL making $4m or less that could stop those goals.

There’s nothing George could’ve done.
We’ll get few games of good goaltening followed by more games of bad goaltending and it will be all year because that’s what our goalies are. They are cheap and inconsistent goalies. If we want a better goalie we have to trade for one and pay more money period

Yeah because that’s what they are. It’s not like we got Vasilevskiy who’s playing bad. We got cheap inconsistent goalies. We get what we pay for

Mitts gotta get his ass in gear. 3pts in his last 8 gms, none at ES and -8. Team worst, by far, -13 on the season. (I know +/- is a flawed stat but still...)
Logic says this should be turning around soon enough. 2nd line duties with 3rd/4th line wings will bite you. He along with his new linemates will get going I'm sure.

He was carrying his line for the first part of the season, so he can take a rest for few games. Then bounce back even stronger.

Drouin - MacKinnon - Lehkonen
Nichushkin - Mittelstadt - Rantanen

Lehky better be ready to take lots of shots. MacK-JD together means lots of passing between the two and Lehky needing to be the trigger man.

Nuke will need to be a puck pursuit monster to free up Mitts setting up Mikko on the second line.

2nd most SA combined with those save % numbers isn't great.
On a brighter note, the shooting % has room to improve.

This isn't true though.

The top goalie in the league this year so far is Anthont Stolarz. Go have a look at how much he's making.

Were these the lines in the practice(s) since Wash? If not, does anyone have what they were?

That’s usually a one year wonder. Some goalies catch fire and have a good season then plummet. Georgiev had a really good 1st season with the Avs then fell off the cliff. There are only like hand full of goalies in the NHL who are good every year and those goalies get paid a lot of money.

Then have a look at the top goalie from last year as well...

The Top 5 goalies in the league as of today(with 10+ starts) are:

Stolarz
Gustavsson
Talbot
Hellebuyck
Dostal

Exactly one of those are making North of $4M.

Goaltending is a crap shoot and in a lot of cases is highly dependent on the team play in front of them.

2nd most SA combined with those save % numbers isn't great.

We have the 2nd fewest shots against.

We're actually playing really fantastic defensive hockey so far this year. The problem with the skaters has been a lack of offense.

And obviously in net it is a complete and utter failure especially with the strong defensive play in front of them.
