On a scale of 1 to 10, how satisfied are you with the Kings' offseason?

i just feel like this season is gonna be real important for some of the kids to show what they got, so there's gonna be a lot of real important decisions made in the next offseason

lots of RFA/UFA contracts, lots of kids that should have made their case by then. i think those decisions NEED to be right, while i feel like this offseason's were kinda "don't be dumb" decisions

Got it. I agree then. It does have the "kick the can down the road another year" vibe. But I feel that's why I think Arvidsson, Danault were great moves--they can be part of the now AND later and they're guys with a high work rate. I know he's not a sexy name at all but Danault was one of this offseason's big fish and while Arvidsson needs to bounce back that almost feels like the Justin Williams move, undervalued guy. But ultimately it's about guys developing and TM not driving us into an iceberg!

I think that it has the potential to be a homerun of an offseason but it could be four years down the road when some of these prospects are really performing and you look back at how these moves kept them from being tossed into the NHL too soon and Danualt is a real nice 3rd line C on--hopefully--a contender.

The only Danault the Kings have is Kopi-Star and we don't want in that role for a awhile! Not only does it ssend a message to the kids(Byfield,Turcotte,Thomas,Kaliyev,Kupari...there are jobs but you have to earn it. I expect the Ontario to go like gangbusters with the kids entering year2 and out to prove something each and every night! On defense Edler is brought in tutor 20 year old Bjornfot on the finer aspects of being an NHLer and being steady as the third pair D-man. I like Arvidsson's speed most of all and his tenaciousness! The other Swedes will take note and raise their games up a notch or two! The more I think of the 2021-22 the more stoked I become! I think the Kings will score a lot of goals this year...call me crazy

7.5 to 8.

The guys they brought in, Arvidsson, Danault and Edler, specifically, should help fill out the roster, giving the young guys (who eventually replace them) an extra season plus in the AHL, while hopefully improving the big club to some degree.

I like Danault. I like what he brings. But I don't like the contract.

Overall I think Blake did about as good of job as you can do of improving the current team, while simultaneously still building for the future.

I think every transaction they have done so far I have liked or would give a 7 too. The length of Danault’s contract somewhat scares me but I said the same thing about Handzus and he proved me wrong. Like the spark Arvidsson brings. Hopefully Edler brings some size and doesn’t get burned wide but he is still 10x the player Kurtis was.

love the draft as much as one can at this time. Solid 9.5 there.

The biggest thing this year is some of our young forwards take that next step. If Vilardi can come out and show he is the prospect we always thought this team will be in great shape up front.

Hopefully our prospects shake off their injury woes and get a solid year of development to show what we really have.
Hopefully the two young pups on D put some muscle on the summer and really help solidify that backend.

Very encouraged by the direction the front office took this summer

9 out of 10. Great entry-level draft, lost no one of consequence in the expansion (addition by subtraction), added 3 veteran players as they meld in the kids with another year of pro experience, and created the most competition in what seems like a decade to weed out the marginal NHL players.

Good entry draft, good expansion draft, good acquisitions. I think the Danault contract brings it down to a 7 for me. The Kings might look back in three years and regret those no trade/movement clauses.

They didn't fire Maclellan.

Not a fan of his, either, but did you really expect him to be let go this offseason (especially since he's "only" halfway into his contract, yeah?)? Now, if this coming season results in a bad standings-result AND the kids don't appear to be progressing well, (IMHO) he absolutely should be shown the door. But, I'd at least give him one shot guiding this slightly-revamped (potentially heavily-revamped, if a few of the kids hit early) roster.

My grade: '7.' Hey, if '5'=average/'1' = dreadful / '10' = trading a 2nd rounder and Lizotte for McDavid, 7 is pretty good by Kings' standards...

He hasn't done anything to deserve another chance. The Kings still have no identity under his tenure. The playstyle they play is illogical. He's shown no signs of competency. Or anything to garner trust. He should have been fired.

7 from me.

Great draft, descend trade for Arvidson even if unnecessary.
Signing Danault is what keeps me away from a 10.

Blake shows patience and great asset management.
The last thing he needs to learn or to show is direct confrontation skills.
Kopitar, Doughty and Brown have to be told that they are not the future and there is no other run for the cup with them.
If they don't like it, they better waive their clauses especially Mr. Doughty.

????

What do you expect.
His masterpiece was to be fired from the Oilers even without any expectations to the team.
He also build the legendary choking artists, the Sharks.

Beside that he has nothing to show for.
Why he was hired is far beyond me.
I demand since years an unknown, young coach with a fresh approach to the ever changing NHL hockey style.
Let other teams have the dinosaurs who have no clue what's beyond the 70's board battle hockey.

Ok Get it. You dislike him. So are you going to go through the next season like a sour puss because of it. There is a TON to be excited for as a Kings fan. We can bitch about Todd once the season starts. Cheer up a bit mate! :)

If I'm not mistaken the players play the game?MacT is fine but there will be raised expectations this Fall/Winter/Spring

8.5

Entry Draft - I like the picks. There were a couple picks I wish the Kings landed, but am happy.

Expansion Draft - wasn't happy with losing MacDermid, but it's not like he should have been protected over anyone else, and at least the Kings didn't waste an asset to keep anyone.

Free Agency - Danault is a bit of an overpayment, but not bad

People can complain about McLellan, but you had unrealistic expectations if you thought he would be fired for last season.

I think all the signings were a sign to the veteran Kings that this may be the last kick of the can for them...at least getting into the Play-offs...after that make room as the kids are coming
