Confirmed by his agent, who told Cloutier that this is great for his development and could help him compete for an NHL spot next year.

Wowww, 3 playoffs in 1 year. Let's hope that this time his team won't be eliminated as fast as the other 2.Yay!
I was just wondering about that. 3 playoffs in one year. A lot of different hockey experiences. Really hope he thrives! I'll be following him.
And he should stay there until they get all the creampuffness out of him.
See... that's what I don't get about some fans and media gashing about habs prospect pool. Roy, Beck, and Kap will be lucky to play 4th line... if ever And they are all so soft. Hage hasn't even made it pro yet and who know how he will turn out... but safe to say he is no Crosby or Bedard. Reinbacher, while seem decent in the AHL, has massive question marks about his ability to stay healthy. Then we have players like Tuch, Florian and Thorpe... again... at best 4th line material. So where is that incredible talent pool?Yeah, 100% definitely belongs in the AHL all year next year. It's what's best for him and for the Habs.
If Dvorak gets let go, Kapanen / Beck in his spot would be a step backwards next year and that's saying something because I don't even like Dvorak at all, I think he was a ghost for 85% of his 4 years with us..
but the time for letting mediocre hopeful prospects take spots on the team while they're showing the bare minimum to be in the NHL needs to be over for awhile. Time to start building an actual contender and force the kids to show something special to take a roster spot with the Habs.
I think one of him or Beck may develop into a 3rd line C for us at some point if we're lucky, but make them actually earn it.. not just get a spot because we have so many passengers.
Laval looked like a seasoned, efficient and confident team in game 1, who seemed to purposely play just well enough to win the game. I thought the addition of Gignac ( who played with Roy and Beck) whose speed and intensity really solidified Laval’s top line. I don’t think any of the forward prospects had outstanding games though both Farrell, with 2 and Beck with one goal, scored for Laval . I just didn’t see them drive the play which may well have been a result of the coaches’ structured game plan.Laval is really stacked in all positions. It's a good experience for Kapanen, but like everyone else I just don't see who they'll sit.

Hughes needs to get off his ass and start wheeling and dealing these overhyped prospects and picks for some seasoned, physical and most importantly mean 3-4th liners. And get the 2C.
The country club part is over. Time to do some work.
There's legit concern on Reinbacher's health and endurance but every game i've watched him play in the AHL he was dominant and that includes his games last year as a 19 years old. Defenseman that age very rarely look that good in the AHL. He's not going to be a guy going 70+ points but if he can remain healthy he'll be a very solid all around dman with good size. I think a comparable fot him is Slavin with a tiny bit more offense (tiny bit more goals).Laval looked like a seasoned, efficient and confident team in game 1, who seemed to purposely play just well enough to win the game. On defence, all the young defencemen played solidly making few mistakes. It was Reinbacher however, who showed the most potential by exhibiting excellent mobility, offensive awareness and a surprising level of physical aggressiveness. One play that caught my eye was when Reinbacher was able to outrace Brindley, who has NHL speed, in a foot race for a loose puck. It’s one of the little in-game things that I notice.
In nets, Fowler displayed excellent positioning, an ability to read/ anticipate the play, positional calmness in the crease and the admirable quality of using limited movement to make a save. This kid has a huge upside and will be an important player in the Canadiens’ continuing improvement.
Whatever. If he can stay healthy, Reinbacher will be huge upgrade over the valiant but rapidly fading Savard. Even as early as next year. There's legit concern on Reinbacher's health and endurance but every game i've watched him play in the AHL he was dominant and that includes his games last year as a 19 years old. if they keep winning with their actual roster I doubt someone sits for Kapanen. For now Kapanen can train and travel with the team, get used to the system and gets into the lineup once something happens. He can take one of RHP or Simoneau's spots. Kapanen is the better player already and with how well he played in the playoffs in Europe he shouldn't be sitting for both those guys.
I watch all the Laval games and while I am just a fan I am not convinced that Owen Beck will be more than a 4th liner in the NHL. I obviously am not an expert but he might become as good as Jake Evans, maybe."Lucky to play 4th line"
Ok.
That's a weird statement. What the country club would do is put all those kids in the AHL, forget they exist and sign some over the hill vets next summer like Athanasiou. That's what we have been doing for 30 years now.The country club part is over. Time to do some work.

So 4th line it is? He hasn't shown much more than that, tbh. And not sure how I feel about another Evans. I'd like another Anderson. That would require him to stagnate almost completely at 21 years old.
He's a year or two ahead of Evans development wise right now.

I'm really puzzled about the discussion for the center position.
Centers nexts eason should be and by should be i mean that should 100% be the plan :
Suzuki
2nd line center aquired via trade or UFA market either an older cheap stop gap or a prime legit player we paid to get
Dach/Newhook/Kapanen/Beck
Evans
There really is not need to get a 3rd line center in the off season or extend Dvorak. Dach deserves one last chance. If it doesn'T work then we can try Newhook for one last chance at the center position or any of the other guys if they torch the AHL and then if all of this doesn't work move during the season to get the Carrier version of center.
Assets and money should be used to get a 2nd line center and top 4 RHD. If we can'T get that the erst doesn't matter at all.
He has significantly more puck skills than Evans had at his age imo. In fact, Evans didn't even play in the AHL at that age.I watch all the Laval games and while I am just a fan I am not convinced that Owen Beck will be more than a 4th liner in the NHL. He’s jinxing his teams by being part of them! Send him back to Sweden FFS!Wowww, 3 playoffs in 1 year. Let's hope that this time his team won't be eliminated as fast as the other 2.
