Hardly qualifies as too much (for Toronto) to turn down.
I was thinking that OEL could be the number one D the Leafs are needing. Plus Hayton is a young (cost controlled) centre, who is showing to be a very responsible 200 foot player. The
Coyotes get Matthews to fill the seats, especially with the potential of a new arena coming.

With his NMC, a flat cap for the next few years, I don't think there will be a lot of teams jumping up and down to add his 58M contract or 54M after his 4M bonus for '20- '21 which I don't know when that was due in this strange season/off season.

After next season his pay jumps to 10.5M for 3 years. He'll be in his age 29 season but his cap hit of 8.25 goes to his age 35 season. Not saying he isn't a very good player but if there's no fans the next season or two then I think many fans aren't considering how badly some teams will be impacted by that.

That said the Habs imo make a ton of sense if MB is willing to take on such a big cap hit. We could offer up several picks plus guys like Poehling, Mete, etc.. as I assume they buyout Alzner. I could see Domi being moved somewhere, if he either wants to stay at center or his ask is too high as the Habs are fine for cap space next year but will be in tough after that depending on what moves are made as I can't see them being able to fit in Domi, Petry, Gallagher, Tatar, Danault, Armia and then have to pay Kotka as an RFA and the next year Suzuki. So they need to be smart with the cap, as who knows where things go in terms of fans and the impact on the cap beyond '21.

But if they want to start getting serious about being at least a playoff contender consistently, they badly need someone that can QB the PP and a OEL - Weber pairing could be huge for us and I'm sure Price would be happy to see it. Plus one of our best prospects in Mattias Norlinder could be coming over after next season so having a fellow Swede on the blueline could help ease his transition.

To Coyotes: Islanders pick,2nd RP ,Logan Brown and futures.
Anything the Coyotes could get that wouldn’t involve them taking back salary they should jump all over. That contract has 7 more years at 8.25M, crazy, he got paid by Arizona because he was the only real star there after Doan left now they gutted there team to try to win, and have bad contracts in Kessel and this OEL deal, on top of having a lot of average when it comes to players.

I presume with NHL hurting they have to cut cap next year, which is why OEL would be available, I just don’t see anyone taking that deal back without considerable retention, or a massive bad contract coming back.

Let's not get snarly, snippy.

God willing there will be new administration very shortly.

My main pt was AZ would do almost anything to get Matthews if he were put on the table.
And yesm he is prob NOT being put on the table, notwithstanding if there is too much to turn down, almost anyone can be had.
Sure if Arizona wants to offer Dovorak, Keller, OEL, Chychrun and 1sts for Mathews then I guess they can have him but they won’t. And there is also a cap

I'm sure your cousin has taken a photo with Matthews then if he parties with him ao often? Maybe post it as some proof?
That’s awful PR the thing about NHL players is that being seen in that light is terrible for publicity. But 90% of the players in the NHL party. Weekly bases with Mathews is an exaggeration although I’d definitely imagine he party’s multiple times a week so does any other player. But yes he has photos with Mathews, and Marner on his Instagram. The older guys are more relaxed tho.

OEL plus Hayton for Matthews?

Toronto wouldn't trade Matthews as an unproven prospect for a 26 year-old OEL back in 2016, doubt they would do it given where both these players are today. Only way Matthews ever plays for the Coyotes is if he decides to do it as a UFA.

As a Canucks fan would you trade Pettersson for OEL + Hayton?

You sound like someone who is in the inner circle with all your inside info
My cousin is friends with a couple of players but I wouldn’t call the “inner circle” when you own a night club in Toronto you meet people Lmao I find it funny how people look at them as goods who don’t speak to average people but in reality they have lives and are no where near perfect.

This is very, very tempting. Our interim GM Steve Sullivan is on the record saying the team must reacquire picks and build through the draft. OEL has a NMC but FLA seems like a similar market and they’ve got a great coach. OEL and Yandle are good friends. I’m sure Yandle would tell him it’s a great spot. They could just swap houses. Lol.

Why would Yandle agree to waive his NMC clause to go back and have to start paying state income taxes again. Not happening

Yotes fans: what would Arizona realistically want from the Habs for OEL? I think the Habs could be a good fit, but his cap situation makes things a little hard - to say the least.

I think his cap situation makes it very hard. Plus, if this happens, he is going to pick his spot.

Domi, Kulak, Poehling, and a first would probably work under the circumstances (which aren't favourable to AZ), except we have the added wrinkle of Domi-AZ dynamics.

I'd prefer to jettison Tocchet and try to mend fences, and if that didn't work, I'd tell him to play his way out under a new coach because the sulking act hasn't made it any easier to make a deal. He's still easily a top pairing D when he pulls his head out of his ass, and we're going to get screwed making a deal-- especially right now with the cap/salary situation league- wide. I fully expect to get five dimes for a dollar in this trade if it happens right now.
