If/when you do look to upgrade I would definitely recommend PSA. They are a great company with great customer service. Their subwoofers are the best value on the market IMO.

I am still looking to add more myself. My plan was always to get 1 or 2 JTR captivator’s to add to the PSA’s (JTR is just another beast all-together) but the prices are going way up. The cap2400 (which is JTR’s “entry level” ported subwoofer) is now going to be like $4500 + another $300-400 for shipping. As insane as their subwoofers are, I can’t justify that price. They used to start at like $2000 which is way more reasonable.

If I do add more I might go the DIY route instead (or “assemble it yourself” with one of the kits available from GSG audio or a similar outlet). They have some really cool AIY kits that come with flat packs for the cabinets and everything. You just glue/screw it together.
Or I might just buy another sub or two from PSA… lol.

Yeah, I'd love to go PSA - they definitely seem to be a good value - but I'm not sure how/if they ship to Canada, or what that that added cost for shipping/import fees would be. Something I'll look into though when I get the itch buy new subs.

Harbottle is another brand I've been intrigued with for a while. Seem to be well received based on what I've read on AVS, and they're pretty close by to me in Alberta.

I don’t think dimming is that big a concern especially compared to the likelihood of just getting a dud tv that burns out these days. Always get a minimum 5 year warranty when buying modern TVs, I know 3 people in my family including myself that bought a tv in 2020 and by 2023 something had burned out. Only one of us had gotten our tv repaired, the other 2 got refunds.

I constantly go out to bars and all around me I see LED TVs with cooked backlights or bad panels, or something. Meanwhile we got a 2015 Samsung blaring as bright as the day I got it in my parents living rooms. You might as well go OLED cause even LEDs have a shelf life with the defective Chinese LEDs and capacitors they’re putting in these new ones.

Hi everyone ! I want to buy used or new a 26 or 27 inches tv. What I know about good tv is 3 brands : Samsung, LG and Sony. I saw good deals with used tv like RCA and Toshiba. Are they as good as Samsung?
It's just for watching tv. 32 inches is too big for my living room and what I have, a Samsung 20 inches is too small. Maybe I could go with a brand new and there are so many brands, probably unknowned chinese brands with question mark liability. Should I wait for the right used tv deal like Samsung. I saw Samsung 26 and 27 inches. Witch model have the best image quality?

The resolution of tvs these days is such that a 32” TV can be viewed from PC-monitor distances. I think you’d have more choices in the 32” range without much difference in price.

As far as brand, it all depends on the tech you want. Do you want an OLED, a Mini-LED, etc.

I had my Samsung 32" tv in that room before and I found it was too large. When I visit people I find they have huge screens and I don't like it. My living room is narrow, my head is 6,5 foot from the tv screen. It's personal but I find huge tv screens are too invasive. I've found a cheap 50$ samsung 27" and it's quite ok. But I will have to change it some day, the screen have a white spot like a sun at the far left upper side. Not catastrophic but it will bother me with time.
I would like a 400$ new tv, a cheap chinese brand that does the job well done. But I think the chinese brands are those who doesn't last. South Coreans and japanese build electronics that last.

I should mention, just in case you didnt know, but monitors usually dont have any built in audio. So you’d have to buy a small pair of stereo speakers or a 2.1 setup (2 speakers plus sub), or more if you like. But a budget 2.1 setup is dirt cheap.

I do believe PSA ships to Canada but you have to pay customs/duty fees, which I think can be pretty expensive. But If you can afford to go Harbottle, that would be my choice pretty easily.
World class drivers. Funk audio is also in canada and a sister company to Harbottle, but even more expensive. Funk builds the nicest cabinets I’ve personally seen.
