Couple of not bad looking photos up on the New Westminster Heritage website of the Queen's Park Arena.
built in 1930 - used almost exclusively for basketball then
1938 ice machinery, enlargement, etc.

The old New Westminster Arena - from Vancouver Archives 1918 photo with the 85th Canadian Field Artillery in front.
Used by the PCHA team in the latter time of the franchise in New Westminster.

The Leadville Ice Palace Skating Rink 1895

Interior view of Leadville, Colorado's Ice Palace skating rink, built for the 1896 Winter Crystal Carnival. Cobble & Kerr built the 80 x 190 foot long rink with wooden trussed roof designed by architect C.E. Joy. Ice arches are along the edges of the rink and umbrella-shaped chandeliers hang fourteen feet above the ice with mutli-colored electric lights in their globes. An exhibit of hanging bicycles and the letters "Law" hang above an ice sculpture of miners by Phillip Kelly. The display has a rope barrier and is reflected in pink, on the ice. A group of wooden chairs sits in the archway and banners hanging in the arch advertise "Ice Palace Restaurant, Oyster House." The skate rental booth is in the archway.

Artificial Ice Rink 1870

Here's some references I found regarding early artificial skating rinks though not able to find any image for it yet...

In 1870 William E. Newton, a civil engineer, adopted the invention of Matthew Julius Bujac, of New York, by which ice could be formed by the circulation of amnioniacal gas, ether, or carbonic acid, through tubes placed below the surface of the water, and he designed a building suitable for a skating club.

Carre Apparatus

I've since found more info on the first Indoor Artificial Skating Rink in the World apparently built for a New York City fair in 1870...

"Those interested in ice manufacture and ice machines will soon have the opportunity to see the celebrated Carré apparatus at work in a special room assigned to it at the rear of the building. A skating rink 24x10 feet, and laid with ice eight inches thick is promised as soon as the machine gets under way. This will be a most interesting feature of the Fair. The machine is exhibited by M. J. Bujac, 17 Broad Street, New York, OCTOBER 15 , 1870."

Philadelphia Skating Rinks

Here's the first indoor skating rink in Philadelphia called the Chestnut Street Skating Rink from 1868(Although also used for roller skating as well)

Then the Philadelphia Skating Rink of 1869.(They were apparently very close to one another)

Just! noticed that the St.Louis Skating Rink Waltz is the same rink as the one in Cincinnati.
I guess it is based on the St.Louis rink and therefore the Queen City Rink was never illustrated though the information on it is correct.
