Post-Game Talk: Oilers win the battle but lose the war against their arch nemesis…

It’s a very high bar, but I think Draisaitl is playing the best hockey of his career. He’s an absolute 200ft monster out there and he’s single handedly controlling games when he’s on the ice.

The shift where he completely dummied Trevor Moore to lead to the goal was amazing. Moore is one of the faster players in the league and Leon still burned him at a speed that might even be at a new level for him. I was at the game and as Drai was skating to the bench I look at the scoreboard and he made sure to chirp Moore on the way haha. Clowned him.

The first went their way because their work rate was higher again, but when we matched that level they couldn’t play with us. Very well done by Skinner stepping up while everyone else was trying to get started. Great team win.

Kings got the same problem they've had for years. Can't score for shit.

Not afraid of them at all.
They have very little overall skill. I can’t believe high they are in the standings. I feel like they are due for some regression. What a dogshit boring franchise

If the Oilers don't bring up that slewfoot to League offices after this game, that's negligent management.

You let that shit go in the regular season, you risk that shit happening in Round 1 and destroying our playoff chances.

If history repeats itself this is about the time of year they begin a long slide back to reality. Kings are the bell of the ball for the first 30 games every season.

He looks like peak Peter Forsberg nearly every game. He is on a whole nother level right now. Best hockey he's ever played

Did they say that?!!?

On occasion I've mistaken Nuge and in the past Mcleod for Mcdavid when they would turn on the burners. I think thats the first time I've ever had to take a second glance at the 29 on the back to see it wasn't Mcdavid absolutely pushing the limits on my tv's frame rate.

29 just looks so different doing it too. Like a T-Rex hitting 40 kmh not a gazelle.

Bring it up to the league, one of two things will happen: We will either get fined or lose a draft pick. Kidding, not kidding.

Lots of people this year worried about the Oilers lack of hits, but tonight (and the past 3 playoff years) should have put that to rest. The big boys on this team ramp up the intensity when playoffs come and the rest of the team follows. Having Kane back is only going to add to that. This group has always been able to play so many different ways. They can play run and gun, they can cycle, they can play gritty and physical, and best of all they don't abandon their structure like they used to. Excited for the 2nd half and to see the roster come playoff time. Would love to see a good 1B goalie brought in for insurance on Skinner and a top 4 puck moving D.

Baby steps, but is becoming more consistent. Is still a young, developing goalie, not sure where peak is, but still has room to grow his game.

I've liked his game for the most part recently. Still want an upgrade on Pickard that can challenge Skinner for starts and give them a better fall back option if Skinner struggles.

My impression of the Oilers in the playoffs. Is hit them, and they'll hit back. They don't initiate like a team like the Panthers though, but the Panthers are a unique animal in that regard, built to play that style from their top end of their roster down. But they can hold their own from a hitting standpoint. And likely they would save that part of their game for the playoffs.

There are elements of other teams, dirty pool play, that we don't have though. We take alot of damage from slew foots, elbows, scrum punches etc etc. I'd like to see some killer instinct, win at all costs type dirt in our game. But the reffing in this League is so dumb, inconsistent, and biased I also see why they might not want to risk the PPs. That said, if you can take control of a game like 4-1 going into the 3rd, start pushing the dirt on opposition Star players. Or be smart in your gamesmanship to get an even up call.
