Post-Game Talk: Oilers Win Series in Gentlemen's sweep 4-2

heh. Yeah, its much harder now without cap sights giving us the info. Its why I was asking. In anycase Browns caphit, this season would be well over 1M, thus my disclaimer.
That’s fair but then all your bitching about a 750k player last year seems a bit ridiculous. ;) We both know you are bitching about the same cap hit twice.

Anyways I think we all can agree his first contract was bad but his second one was good.

I never wanted either contract anymore than I ever wanted Arvid here so my comments are consistent with that.

I think the thing with Brown is one had to have seen him in Ottawa or Toronto and watched him closely to follow what he brings. Watching the Oilers version of Brown probably doesn't do him justice. The only year in recent memory that I watched the Leafs or Sens much was the Covid Canadian division year and I don't remember Brown standing out in those games and we beat the Sens every game so maybe not a good impression.

Go enjoy the nice weather instead of arguing about Connor Brown of all players.

Well Arviddson isn’t worth his current contract so i get that.

I thought the full 3.25 was deferred to this year because they could only afford brown at 775 K last season?
All I know is 3.55 total deferred from bonuses. I’d have to dig into exactly how much was Holloway and Broberg and Perry. I know all of those guys had bonuses and I’m not sure how much below the cap we finished before bonuses.

With the Brown contract though theres been creative playing with numbers. Last season all I heard was we have to consider him as only making 1M because the 4M is deferred to this season. This year all I hear is him making 1M. Maybe I'm missing something but didn't we pay Brown 5M in total and isn't that 4M on this years cap? I'm asking, I'm not saying. I don't get into the capology stuff.
His contract last year was $4M. This year it is $1M. The fact that there is a carry-over of $3.25M should not impact his assessment this year since it would have been on the books even had he not re-signed, but it is fair to judge his previous year against a $4M deal.

Why does this fanbase give 2 sh**s what some talking heads think to the point we should name & shame them.
Why do we even care? Why all the vitriol?
Cuz they're the media. They don't watch any games and go off of stupid lazy narratives people in Toronto muppets say based on nothing.

Same shit they always do. Act like experts on teams they don't watch. They don't even look at stats.

If i were as inept at my job as these f***ers I wouldn't have one.

Did some digging on MoneyPuck for our goalie performances in this series based on Goals Saved Above Expected.

Skinner:
Game 2: -1.88
Game 1: -2.79...oof. (and we only lost by one goal)

Now Pickard:
Game 3: -0.69 (Kuemper -1.88)
Game 4: -0.15
Game 5: +1.02
Game 6: -0.29

Again, no clue why so many maroons in the local sports media are acting like he's a lateral move on Skinner. He's clearly a massive upgrade.

Rewatched the handshakes.

Most of the Oilers barely even acknowledged Foegele.

No love lost there I think.

Yeah, McDavid blew right past him. Foegele and Kane seemed friendly. He chatted a bit with Pickard, as did Kuemper.

I'm sure Foegle's video clip Iof him hating the Oilers were shared with Oilers.

Rantanen on the other hand was pure class today calling each player on the Avs his brothers and how emotional the hand shakes were for him
Rantanen was all class with that but then again he played over a decade with the AV's. His whole career to this point, so it ain't the same thing. Foegele is a player that gets moved every couple of years.

Oilers vs Kings isn't a rivalry anymore.

Oilers vs Kings is a preseason game from now on!
