good period but our only way to score is passing the puck in the net because we can't shoot from distance. Mcdrai dominant, bottom 9 invisible as usual. Need some goals in the 2nd.

Often it’s just poor shot selection. Nuge had an opportunity earlier to shoot from the slot and he back passed it right out of the zone.
McDavid could have driven the net and tried to pass it through 2 sticks. Draisaitl had an open look and decides to pass it to McDavid on the goal line

Outside of a few select Oilers... they have poor finish. That's been the case from the start of the year and it's improved some... but still a major issue.

Draisaitl and Perry are the only shooters above 15% (not that tons of guys can shoot at that level but still..). Draisaitl is our only player who can still generate chances with regularity and hit 15%. Richard Rakell and Bryan Rust are shooting over 16%, as possible examples of guys who could make a big impact to our efficacy up front.

That Vancouver game Hyman drove the net and scored. But they’re all too content to buttonhook and wait for help before the scoring opportunities completely vanish.

The only thing worse than the Blues in that first period was the ice in that rink. I think most of the blue's chances were both created and nullified by bad ice in and around the Oiler net

This Oiler team continues to be frustrating to watch though. I don't think I've ever seen a team carry the play and control a period and struggle this much at getting shots to even hit the net. Everything is one and done, no rebounds, missed nets, if they keep up this lack of inefficiency and they're gonna be at risk of being investigated by the DOGE.

Oilers give up 3 shots in the period, one of which came off of the wildest bounce we've seen all year, and half the thread thinks they were poor defensively. Gotta love the eye testers.

Binnington the only Blue on the ice with a pulse in that period.
They turned the puck over too many times. Definitely allowed a few glorious chances.

Didn't watch the first but Bob was giving it to the refs during a shift when McDrai were in blues zone. Refs again shit?

That's all teams need to do, bend and don't break. Skinner will let in a stinker eventually, then the Oilers pair up McDrai for the rest of the game.
