Colton S would from NSH would actually be a great fit for Oilers. Better than O'ConnorI wish Nashville would send you Cole Smith...

I don't know that we need to move anyone out, honestly. If Kane's not back until playoffs we have some flexibility. But there are no breaks in the playoffs. These older bucks will tire out. And yes, I'm aware Kane is back for the playoffs only, but someone older needs to go if we are to inject some energy into the lineup. It's frustrating because all these guys are doing just enough to keep their jobs, but it's not enough overall with what's ahead for the team. Who would you move out?
Honestly, Poehling is a pretty good comparison for DOC. Both fast and decent on the PK/defensively, but leave a ton to be desired everywhere else. Poehling could fill that hole left by Holloway if the need is a bigger, speedy 4th liner.Ryan Poehling from Philly?
He's not huge but he's a bigger guy and is solid defensively with good speed. Depends what the Oilers want outside of 'big and fast' though, as he offers next to no offense.

Though, if we're moving anyone out, my #1 guy is Adam Henrique. Add a good winger, shift RNH to 3C, and run:
TBD-McDavid-Hyman
Pod-Drai-Skinner (who's looked great the last few games)
Arvidsson-RNH-Brown
Janmark/Kane-Philp/Janmark-Perry

This..100%. It was a poor decision made by the Oilers that is now going to cost them more in assets than the 2.4 million that would have easily been covered by the rising cap. Young middle 6 forwards under long-term/reasonable $ contracts are the Holy Grail of contending teams. Yet Bowman/Jackson really look bad for not matching. Broberg would have been understandable to let go, even though they probably shouldn't have for the same reason of now it will cost you more ($/assets) for the same kind of player going forward. But the Holloway one is going to hurt in the meantime, more, because of the lack of scoring depth on the Oilers.
Would be nice, but I doubt it, since Montreal seems to think they have a legit shot of making the playoffs.
Habs are done for this year. DOC is the kind of big, fast, and not too expensive guy they should be looking at in free agency though. The Habs are close and need to move out some of their older guys on bigger cap hits.I don't think the Montreal brass thinks they have a snowballs chance in hell of making the playoffs. The Canadiens have lost six of their last seven games and aren't in the mix for the wildcard spots.
While you might be able to argue that Pettersson alone would fetch a 1st, the Rangers 1st has a much better chance of being higher than any of the other 1sts that will be traded this season.with the reported demand for DOC.... from Vancouver, Edmonton, Vegas and others...... why did Dubas include DOC as part of the trade almost like a throw in? He probably could have gotten a 3rd round pick or better if DOC was traded on his own especially when you have 3 teams in the same division fighting for him.
M Pettersson was at the top of the leaderboard for Dmen on alot of trade boards so he was going to get that 1st rounder no matter what...
but then Pitt also ate 2 cap dumps with term in Heinen and Desharnais?
I'm sure Pitt is satisfied with the first but i just dont think they maximized value with the demand for DOC and eating cap dumps w. term.
1st
Desharnais
Heinen
Fenstrom
for
M. Pettersson
DOC
Also, Desharnais is a gigantic RD who is capable of playing NHL minutes, and therefore will have some trade value. It might not be until next trade deadline, but the Penguins will be receiving an asset of some kind in return for him.
Desharnais is doing all right as a Penguin so far. shrug If he doesn't return an asset, I'm fine with keeping him....only if some poor schmuck GM makes a horrible mistake...Vinny Desharnais is NOT an NHL-calibre defenseman...the 'Nucks couldn't move off him fast enough after just 30 games or so, just like the Oil last year couldn't get rid of his slow, lumbering arse fast enough after he watched most of the Finals from the pressbox...I'm sorry for Pitt fans if they are expecting anything else but a giant pylon that treats the puck like a live grenade...
He got a young #6 D that keeps getting better as they year goes on for a cap dump. He's a #6D, that shouldn't excite or impress anyone given where Edmonton is in their competitive window. If that is the best Bowman can do he should quit tomorrow.
He'll remain doing alright if you guys use him in the right scenarios. He's great at clogging up the net front area and killing penalties. The fact that Vancouver couldn't figure out how to use him makes me chuckle a bit.Desharnais is doing all right as a Penguin so far. shrug If he doesn't return an asset, I'm fine with keeping him.
