2) Ok, if tripping over his own feet in the corners can't be taken into consideration for his overall speed, then he can't be called fast. He's occasionally fast.

3) You think his overall poor skating shouldn't be considered when evaluating his speed, yet you make bizarre emotional comments like this? wtf even is this?

Everything you originally claimed about this player is wrong. He's not as big as you thought. He does not use his size. He is never a center. He's only occasionally fast.

And up until the very recent news about the cap skyrocketing, dealing Bouchard would have been a decent conversation to have with Edmonton's other high-AAV contracts.

Sure. But Armia is a good fit to any playoffs team. Plays the right way and you can slide him to any line and he won't suck not matter which side of the puck. Excels on PK and there's also a bit of a hidden game breaker in there. Every team would like him for their post season.

Started skating this past Saturday, coming back off a sports hernia that he seemed to try to initially play through. He was really good in his role to start the year on the wing with Zucker and McLeod. Rangy PKer, uses his height and stick to his advantage disrupting plays and then bulldozes through traffic to free up pucks and get to the net. Others were having success in the mayhem him just going through areas would create. He was engaged and playing perhaps his best hockey in Buffalo when he first went out of the lineup.

I would guess he'll probably be around the cost of just about every other 3rd line-ish guy at the deadline in terms of value: something about a 3rd rounder or so if he comes back and plays to his usual level. There was some chatter from the GM that he is looking to extend both Zucker and Greenway, but who knows if they want to stay in this mess and be part of the solution.

1) unless you personally measured him standing in his bare feet, you don't know anything more about his height than the average person. He's listed at 6'4 in some places, 6'3 in others. Either answer is fine and honestly it doesn't even matter, you're just being pedantic for the sake of it.
2) fast is fast. Agility and edges are part of the overall skating package. I don't recall anyone saying that he was an elite skater, merely that he was fast, which for some reason you took umbrage with.
3) That's me calling you out on your bullshit. Calling an undrafted player that established himself as a fulltime NHLer at 25 years old "pathetic" is just a garbage thing to say and kind of makes me think you're a garbage person, too.

You haven't proven shit. All you're providing is your own personal biases and anecdotes. I said he was big - he's big. I said he was fast - hey, he's pretty fast. I said he might moonlight as a centre here and there, based on the number of draws he takes which is comparable to guys like Janmark, Rasmussen, Lafferty etc types who are primarily wingers but occasionally play C.

Finally with Bouchard - no, it wouldn't. We had the cap space to comfortably re-sign him. Good teams establish their core and keep them. He's our Letang. He was and is going absolutely nowhere.

Would be nice, but I doubt it, since Montreal seems to think they have a legit shot of making the playoffs.

Unfortunately, the more teams that think they have a shot of making the playoffs, the less potential trading partners we'll have.

Also, what do people think of moving out Arvidsson? He's small, old, slow, injury-prone, and disappointing after spending so much time on Drai's wing. He's certainly not worth the $4 mil we're paying but he might be attractive to...Chicago? They're always looking for vets it seems. I feel like swapping Arvy for a younger, faster, bigger player is a sound move.

At this point I'm convinced you're his mother.

He has left every single Pens fan wanting more out of him. For a game here and there, it looks like he could actually be something. Maybe turning a corner. Then he disappears for 15 games. This isn't my "bullshit." I'm tired of him getting opportunity after opportunity and doing very little with it. I'm ecstatic he's gone. Because again: he doesn't use his size. He's not that fast. He is not a center.

Speaking of Janmark- when he is inevitably moved one day, I'll make sure I jump into that thread to educate you on the kind of player he is!

...Hughes knows the Habs aren't making the Playoffs...Armia will be available for the right offer, as will other Habs vets (see: Evans, Jake), imo...

I'd be hesitant to move out Arvidsson so quickly.

Before last night's game he was shooting 6.6% on the season, His career average is 10% and he's had years he's shot 12% or more. His underlying numbers are good and he's reliable defensively. I'd hang on to him for the time being unless a surefire upgrade becomes available.
 
with the reported demand for DOC.... from Vancouver, Edmonton, Vegas and others...... why did Dubas include DOC as part of the trade almost like a throw in? He probably could have gotten a 3rd round pick or better if DOC was traded on his own especially when you have 3 teams in the same division fighting for him.


M Pettersson was at the top of the leaderboard for Dmen on alot of trade boards so he was going to get that 1st rounder no matter what...

but then Pitt also ate 2 cap dumps with term in Heinen and Desharnais?

I'm sure Pitt is satisfied with the first but i just dont think they maximized value with the demand for DOC and eating cap dumps w. term.

Janmark is 32 years and played 600 games over ten years in this league. He's not an undrafted 26 year old you seemingly despise for no real reason aside from your own entitlement.

Enjoy being ignored forever.

I'm just struggling to see who we move then? The team is looking slower and more tired with every game and that won't get better in the playoffs. Plus Kane is coming back.

They're pretty drained coming off a deep playoff run. If speed is our problem (and it's one of them) then moving Arvidsson doesn't help anything, he's pretty quick.

We have a 12 day break coming up that should work wonders.

I wouldn't count on seeing Kane until playoffs. He's reportedly still weeks away from even practising.

The first is the Rangers’ 2025 that becomes an unprotected 2026 first if the Rangers are bottom 13. At the time of the trade it looked like the pick would roll over to that very valuable 2026 unprotected first. That pick’s potential value was likely why Dubas took two cap dumps (with money owed for next season too) and added DOC. Dubas is rebuilding while having Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and EK. Those guys will be too good still to tank the club. Dubas is finding other ways to get the highest picks he can.

But there are no breaks in the playoffs. These older bucks will tire out. And yes, I'm aware Kane is back for the playoffs only, but someone older needs to go if we are to inject some energy into the lineup. It's frustrating because all these guys are doing just enough to keep their jobs, but it's not enough overall with what's ahead for the team. Who would you move out?

For the immediate future maybe. But not long term. Kane is in his mid 30s, so at some point soon all these injuries and surgeries will start to slow him down
