The Oilers had a big and fast player in Justin Bailey, and they let him go in free agency a few years ago. He was just traded not long ago as well, and Edmonton could have been in on that.
DOC is a fun X Factor on a 4th line that can go up the lineup in an injury situation, but he isn't going to put your team over the hump.I don't think DOC is going to be a difference maker for anyone, personally. Not like Edmonton cup hopes are changed in anyway. DOC was a speedy forechecker who PK'ed well but the pedestrian level of production made it difficult to have any positive feelings towards keeping him.
You think Perry is a regular in the top 6?...so Perry over Kane??...is that the best use of Kane's talents??...![]()
so another Podkolzin? he's been excellent for the Oilers but I hope they aim higher than DOCSeravalli on Oilersnations Everyday expressed that the Oilers tried to acquire DOC last week. It obviously failed and DOC went to Vancouver. Seravalli says that the Oilers are now looking at a backup play but for a similar type of player. A big ,fast forward that can forecheck. Seravalli says they are still trying to replace Holloway from the day they lost him.
Which players might the Oilers be targeting now that fits the DOC mould?
DOC is big, fast, still young... put up 33 points last year.... on pace for only like 25 points over an 82 game schedule this year...
He's also a positive corsi player...
For a fourth liner, you could do a lot worse..
anyone saying 'he sucks!' needs to take context and position into account
Yeah Tanev is a much better player than DOC. Not really close IMO.It's really not difficult to find a Drew O'Connor type of player. He's really not anything special.
Tanev in Seattle sticks out as an obvious backup plan. Honestly I think Tanev is better than O'Connor.
Isn't middlestat like 5''8???sounds like casey middlestadt too me.
1. He had stretches of competency with the Pens as well.Drew has been great the few games he has played for us idk why people are saying he sucks??
Really liked his first two games here and the league is littered with players breaking out in a new environment. The legend of DOC grows.
Since most pens fans say the opposite, I'm surprised to here someone dump on a bottom six player making 900k.I’m happy for you and I’m happy that I had no knowledge of this until this moment and I’m also happy that I will(hopefully)never feel any obligation to watch a game DOC is playing in again
Well one thing is patently obvious throughout the years is that not many Eastern fans watch Western games so there ya go…..I’m happy for you and I’m happy that I had no knowledge of this until this moment and I’m also happy that I will(hopefully)never feel any obligation to watch a game DOC is playing in again
that wasn't meant to be seriousIsn't middlestat like 5''8???
*** just checked he 6'1 ***
A guy making 900 k who contributes to winning is a great piece to have. Great add by Van. But not a big miss by the Oil. They will find a similar player and (if needed) pay a mid pick to have the selling team retain.Since most pens fans say the opposite, I'm surprised to here someone dump on a bottom six player making 900k.
having a lot of top end talent and no cup? Yeah…Are you trying to say that Oilers management is bad?
It's funny because as a nucks fan I never really realized how slow we were until the recent additions of him and Chytil.33 points is 3rd line production, honestly. On average last year each NHL team only had 6 forwards averaging over 33 points.
I'm betting the Oilers saw DOC as more of a 3rd liner than a fourth liner and they're right to do so.
Actually I'm not all that upset with the management team identifying DOC as the kind of player they want.
We're old, he's young
We're slow, he's fast.
Our bottom six is fairly small, he's big.
People love dunking on the Oilers and losing Holloway for next to nothing was dumb as hell but DOC is a decent replacement, at least for the Holloway we saw last year.
