Do you think that we sign one or both of these players? One thing that you can never have enough of when chasing a Stanley Cup is depth. Dermott can play both sides and brings some physicality while also being a player familiar with Knoblauch. Hoffman is a one shot scorer that could maybe be had on a bargain deal to provide some scoring help in the bottom 6 and on the 2nd PP unit. He could also give us cheap top 6 insurance in case of an injury on the wings. I could see both being signed if they prove worthy of a contract.

I always wanted Hoffman, it’s a natural pair for either Draisaitl or McDavid who are amazing passers to get a one shot scorer. But Skinner is superior and I don’t see him making the top six. I feel like this is cover so that the young guys aren’t gifted opportunity and have to earn it. But he is only 34, maybe he surprises? 🤷‍♂️

It's a sorry shame how Hoffman's career got unfairly derailed by one unhinged girlfriend. Would love to see him get a Cup.

Well I think Dermott might get signed sooner as I believe he is a client of Jackson's former agency, so that's something to look out for.

As for Dermott's on ice abilities I do think him being able to play either side is huge. Especially how thin we are on the left side.

Hoffman I truly don't know. His numbers were decent offensively in a limited role, but I'll have to see what he looks like on the ice before making judgement. At his age he truly could look a lot different than a few months ago.

I don't even know if she really was the problem. He ended up marrying her I believe, but nothing really ever came out of it.

Dermott feels like an AHL veteran kinda guy, with a small chance of a call up if the other signees go sideways.

As for Hoffman, no ill will to the player, but he seems like he’s probably done as an NHL level player. If the team needs him on the roster it means other players on the roster including newly signed and then those further down on the depth chart (lesser experienced) l aren’t stepping up as hoped. I doubt he gets a contract offer.

I think Hoffman would be a good add, even if he was playing on the 3rd line.

I don't know if we can bank on getting steady offence from the bottom 6 at this point yet. Janmark and Brown obviously finished well, but they will likely step back a bit. Podkolzin is an unknown, and Perry is Perry. He's no juggernaught, but I think he can give us a different look if the third line gets stagnant. Worst case he's good depth to have in the AHL.

Mr and Mrs Karlson were the unhinged ones.

There was no substantiation ever of their claims and to their credit the Hoffmans didn't end up sueing.

Everything that went on in Ottawa was deplorable and Karlson was the captain of that stupid ship.

But its yet another example of how in this new age that hearsay is deemed evidence. The Karlsons were never made to prove their claims and never did. Any forensic analysis showed that it wasn't Caryk making the texts. There was no match with her IP.

At best this was a catfight. Except in Ottawa Mr and Mrs Karlson were king shit so players and wives tended to believe them over the Hoffmans.

Actually no disputing that it was the Karlsons that brought the house down in Ottawa and that the team has never recovered since.

Free is Free. No harm in taking a look at some no obligation NHL veteran talent. Especially with an unnecessary 8 game exhibition season.

Oil stocked the RD cookie jar with veteran third pairing depth guys, Stetcher, Brown, Carrick and a hopeful prime years guy in Emberson. But there's real vulnerability if one of the cornerstone Ekholm or Nurse LD guys go down or Kulak for that matter.

Dermott will get reps and maybe earn a contract elsewhere. Or maybe accepts a situation as a versatile call-up in Bako in a break glass in case of emergency scenario.

Hard to see a bottom six role for Hoffman but another guy who can take exhibition minutes and limit unnecessary fatigue and injury risk to a very mature top six wing group. Guy with an elite shot and goal scoring instincts but not sure the wheels are there.

Only thing I could find about Archie and Jughead's high school principal: Predators Sign Jasper Weatherby to One-Year, Two-Way Contract | Nashville Predators

Big, character left shot centre. Come soak up exhibition minutes and get ice-time in an NHL camp. Good with that.

im actually concerned over the Kane and Nurse injuries. I don't think the season will go smoothly, at least not as smooth as people here or in the media think. I don't think we will be finishing out of the playoffs, but I do think it'll be a bit of a brawl and we will have more injuries. So having more people around isn't a bad idea.

The reports say Nurse should be fine by Game 1

Janmark is 32. He'll do better this year with good linemates.
Brown was finally getting his MOJO back. With Henrique I see them performing better as a line as well.

Ryan and Perry got worse as the year progressed. Wear and tear.

Many (most) wingers do well way past 34 especially in playoff style hockey.
Some power forwards seem to drop off quickly though.

Perry I'm pretty sure was hurt because he wasn't even playing physically. Penciling in both guys as everyday 4th liners is very risky at this point in their careers. Ryan for me should be the 14th forward and Lavoie or Hoffman should alternate with Perry in the lineup.
